I help adults with anxiety, depression, grief/loss and life transitions process their thoughts, actions and behaviors so that they can achieve their goals. My goal is to create a safe and secure environment that is filled with compassion, warmth, and empathy. I want every person who meets me to feel accepted. It isn’t easy to ask for help or to trust a stranger with intimate details of whatever problem(s) they are facing. I take the trust placed in me very seriously. I have gained 18 years of clinical skills in both inpatient and outpatient as well as crisis intervention. I have also worked within both acute care and palliative care on the medical side, giving me a unique perspective on the importance of an integrative approach aimed at treating the mind and body. I look forward to working with you!

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session together, I will seek to understand what brought you to therapy as well as some background and history ensuring comprehensive assessment of your needs and discuss your goals of therapy process.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I believe that I am able to assess what is occurring with clients as well as the effectiveness of interventions. My work on a Mobile Crisis Team gave me tools that I continue to use in my practice today. I also have worked in a variety of settings outside of private practice such as inpatient, crisis stabilization, schools as well as in a medical hospital/trauma center, giving me a unique perspective. I am able to pull from my past clinical experiences in other settings and continue to implement in my work with clients. I have been fortunate to work within the medical world both acute as well as hospice and palliative care. While my role in those settings was different than a traditional therapy session, the skills I gained are useful tools that I can incorporate in sessions

Grief Therapy

I have spent a number of years within my career working in Hospice and Palliative Care, assisting patients facing life limiting illness and families with anticipatory grief as well as grief following the loss. Grief is also experienced with any number of losses and important to process through the grief experienced with any loss, providing space to explore the rollercoaster of emotions that typically come with grief/grieving. Grief may be experienced from a death, loss of relationship, loss of job, and even loss of abilities to engage in activities they once loved. Grief can become complex if left unattended, so while facing grief can be scary, my goal is to assist throughout the process.

Motivational Interviewing

I have worked in settings in which Motivational Interviewing was primary modality of treatment. I typically pull from my experience using Motivational Interviewing in conjunction with other modalities as appropriate
