In our first session together, we will start with brief introductions and an opportunity to get to know each other better in order to foster a positive therapeutic alliance. Then we will jump into identifying specific challenges and initial goals for therapy.
With my experience with both adults and children, I have been fortunate to be able to sharpen skills that have led to success when working with individuals, couples and families.
I have worked closely with children and family for over 10 years. When working with children and caregivers, I work closely with the family to support and build a positive and healthy parent child relationship. When working with adults, I will provide support with processing and overcoming any challenges related to early childhood attachment issues.
When using CBT, I focus on providing psycho-education and support with acknowledging and reframing negative thinking patterns, in order to experience an increase in positive outcomes.
My concentration is in marriage and family therapy, and when working with couples my main goal is to support partners with more effective and supportive communication, in order to more effectively resolve conflict or face challenges.
When utilizing DBT, I work closely with clients to focus on emotion regulation and distress tolerance skills, mindfulness strategies and effective interpersonal skills.
With strength based treatment, the goal is to support clients with reframing any identified challenges and/or weaknesses into strengths. This approach focuses on resiliency, and identifying someone's strengths rather than their deficits.
