9 years of experience

Thank you for reviewing my profile. I am originally a Midwest farm gal with a little city pazzazz having lived in the Chicagoland area for many years. Although I am now a CA resident, my Midwest roots are grounding to me. I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) in California. I provide counseling services via telehealth and on Tuesday's have in-person sessions available to those who live locally. On days I am not working, I enjoy reading, riding the motorcycle with my husband, spending time with my adult kids, traveling, taking walks with our pet dog, Buddy, and working out at the gym. I am divorced, have lost a pet I dearly cherished, lost my father, and worked hard to obtain my PhD! I am a huge advocate of self-care because that is what helped me keep taking one step forward on difficult days. Take courage and know that I, too, have not been without struggles, but encourage you to know there is hope everyday!

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session together, we'll start with brief introduction, then talk about the specific challenges you're facing. This will help us create a tailored plan for us to work through in follow-up sessions.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Having worked with women for many years, one of my greatest strengths as a therapist is acceptance and warmth embracing you just as you are and where you are in life's journey. I have also worked with children and families for over 20+ years having a background in education and counseling. I have worked with children who are afraid of dogs, have lost a pet, loved one, or feeling sad about a parents divorce and navigating change.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

CBT is a flexible approach that can be adapted to the specific needs of each client. This method may also incorporate various techniques, such as mindfulness and relaxation exercises, depending on the individual's issues and preferences.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

SFBT is a highly client-centered approach that encourages clients to be proactive in identifying and achieving solutions to their problems. It is often used for a wide range of issues, including personal development, or work related issues.

A strength-based approach in therapy focuses on the client's strengths, resources, and resilience rather than solely on their deficits or problems. This approach empowers clients to build on their existing capabilities to address challenges and improve their overall well-being.

Attachment theory focused on relationships and the emotional connection sought to feel secure.

Narrative theory is focused on talking about the story experienced and the challenges and solutions linked to your situation. This approach then lends itself to find alternative solutions to the challenges and solutions.
