Hello and thank you for checking out my profile and considering me in your current journey. My name is Jeff Moyer, licensed mental health therapist. I understand that therapy can be intimating and so I applaud you for taking this step in looking at options for support. My goal is to help change the perception of therapy and help clients see it as a positive way to support mental health, and just another way of developing one's health, just like with our physical health. I want to guide clients in developing positive changes in their life, so they feel better and healthier, emotionally. Therapy isn’t about changing who you are, it’s about finding possible alternatives to support change in the areas that may be causing problems in our life. Thank you again for looking into ways to be more emotionally healthy, and I am here to help if you decide you would like to get started.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

During our initial session, it's important to me that you feel understood. I will provide time for you to comfortably share what has brought you to therapy and your aspirations for the journey ahead. I am here to address any inquiries about myself, the therapeutic process, or any concerns you might have, all with the aim of ensuring your comfort in future sessions. My objective is to offer support and assist you in identifying the reasons you sought therapy and the type of support you need, to begin forging a path towards the change you've been seeking.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My approach is genuine and responsive, designed to provide insights into the concerns or issues that you feel underlie the challenges in your life. I am committed to identifying practical solutions and nurturing lasting transformation for healing and better relationships. My objective is to help you acknowledge the advantages of change and to encourage you in feeling successful as you implement those changes.

My treatment methods

Strength-Based

I appreciate the use of strength-based therapy as a positive form of talk therapy with clients because it helps guide a person towards retelling their own personal history of trauma and stressors, with more emphasis on seeing themselves as survivors rather than victims. This approach allows clients to focus more on their strengths and survival skills rather than their weaknesses.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) helps emphasize positive psychology concepts by helping clients build solutions rather than dwelling on problems. It can foster hope through positive emotions and future-oriented thinking, making goals both motivating and achievable. This approach can be incredibly empowering for clients, as it aligns with their intrinsic desire for change.

Positive Psychology

In today's world filled with worries, I love working within the concept of positive psychology because it focuses on building a client's strengths and how to utilize them, rather than focusing on their weaknesses and how to work through their struggles. This approach supports a person in building "the good" in their life instead of just repairing the bad, allowing them to potentially direct their lives to a better place rather than solely focusing on overcoming struggles.
