Hello! I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) based in Atlanta, Georgia. I grew up on the West Coast, in Oregon and California. I earned my Master's from San Diego State University and have provided therapeutic services for 12 years. I meet clients where they are in life to help guide and support them in accomplishing their therapeutic goals.
I am here to provide expert support and tailored therapy services. You are the expert in your life, and I will work with you to find the best solutions. I offer personalized and practical support through cognitive behavioral, narrative, and solution-focused therapy techniques. During the first session, we will review the intake form and allow you to elaborate on your experience with therapy and what brings you to therapy now. I will then dive right in, inquiring about what is disrupting your life and what your goals are for treatment. For example, how will you know that therapy has helped you or that you have gotten what you needed? If the initial session is for couples or families, I will subtly assess for safety and speak with each member individually as necessary. This is to ensure that all perspectives are heard and understood. Your unique experiences and viewpoints are essential.
Through my unique blend of personal and professional experiences, I have cultivated a deep understanding of human nature. I provide a safe and nonjudgmental environment for exploring life's endless possibilities and achieving genuine self-awareness.
Elizabeth Nelson-Cahill offers therapy covered by Medicaid - Peach State Health Plan and Peach State Health Plan (Managed Medicaid) in Georgia.
Depending on the client's needs, I implement techniques from Narrative, Solution-Focused, and Cognitive-Behavioral Therapies.
Explore the story we develop through our lives. We make more helpful and accurate adjustments while developing an understanding of the words and stories we use.
Sometimes, going back in time is not the most helpful, so this technique allows us to start in the present and how we move forward with the issues directly in front of us.
Our thoughts impact how we behave, and how we behave affects our thoughts. We work together to adjust one to impact the other so that they are aligned with what we need in life.
