As a seasoned psychotherapist I possess a variety of strengths that contribute to effectiveness in helping you. My experience of years working with diverse clients and a wide range of issues, a developed sense of empathy and compassion that develop with the years, as well as clinical skills, developed cultural competency through my work. My greatest strength has been my own personal growth and self-reflection and relationship with God, which has deepened my self-awareness and understanding of my own strengths and limitations.
I enjoy working with clients that are eager to change, those that are struggling with finding their way out of a situation that no longer serves them. I love to work with college students that are learning and looking for new ways of doing things, as well as clients that are stuck in a depression, or having difficulty moving on from a relationship due to attachment issues. I also love to help those who suffer from anxiety , those that worry too much or over think things. I also understand the process and pain in grief and life transitions.
I work with clients to identify and challenge irrational thoughts and beliefs that contribute to emotional distress or problematic behavior. By replacing these negative thoughts with more realistic and positive ones, and by teaching clients new coping skills and behaviors, to develop healthier ways of thinking and responding to challenging situations.
In using this approach In therapy focuses, on the unique experience and emphasizes empathy, authenticity, and unconditional positive regard, by creating a safe and nonjudgmental space where clients feel understood and accepted. This encourages clients to explore feelings, thoughts, and experiences without fear of criticism.
With Reality therapy approach, the therapist helps the clients take responsibility for their own behavior and choices in order to create positive change in their lives. The premise of this approach is that individuals have the power to control their own behavior and make choices that lead to more fulfilling life. This is done by identifying needs, setting goals, evaluating behavior, and taking action, holding accountability for their choices and behaviors.
