I've been immersed in the field since 2013, working across various settings including residential treatment facilities for youth, homeless shelters, and emergency rooms as a crisis evaluator. Transitioning to inpatient care on an adolescent unit, I ventured into independent practice in 2019, focusing on women's mental health and continually expanding my expertise to better serve my clients' needs. Outside of work, I cherish moments with my husband, two children, and our lively assortment of animals. I also find joy in spending time with friends, exploring nature, indulging in reading, and delving into thought-provoking podcasts.
During our initial session, we'll have the opportunity to meet and establish rapport, allowing space for you to ask any questions about me and the therapy process. We'll conduct an intake assessment together to gain a comprehensive understanding of your needs and experiences, while also discussing your goals and expectations for treatment moving forward.
I believe my greatest strength as a therapist lies in my ongoing drive to learn new techniques, continually challenge myself, and maintain a genuine interest in mental health and the well-being of my clients. I derive fulfillment from delving deep into understanding the underlying reasons behind human behavior and collaborating with clients to help them achieve their goals. Working alongside clients in their journey toward healing and growth is a deeply rewarding aspect of my practice.
As a therapist specializing in serving women over 18, I prioritize creating a safe and empathetic space where clients feel validated and supported in exploring their attachment, trauma, depression, anxiety, life changes, and relationship difficulties. Drawing from evidence-based therapies such as Attachment-Based Therapy, CBT, DBT, and IFS, I work collaboratively with clients to address underlying wounds, develop coping strategies, and navigate transitions, including perinatal and postpartum mental health challenges. Through psychoeducation, mindfulness techniques, and support in establishing healthy boundaries and communication skills, I empower clients to cultivate self-compassion, resilience, and more fulfilling relationships, while remaining attuned to cultural and systemic factors that may influence their experiences.
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) can be integrated for clients with trauma by utilizing bilateral stimulation techniques such as eye movements, taps, or sounds to facilitate the processing of traumatic memories, while simultaneously guiding clients through cognitive restructuring and adaptive resolution of distressing experiences, ultimately aiming to alleviate trauma-related symptoms and promote psychological healing.
Attachment-based therapy focuses on exploring and understanding the dynamics of clients' attachment styles and relational patterns, aiming to foster secure and healthy attachment bonds through interventions that emphasize empathy, validation, and corrective emotional experiences within the therapeutic relationship, ultimately promoting greater emotional regulation and interpersonal functioning.
CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) is employed to identify and challenge maladaptive thought patterns and behaviors, helping clients develop more adaptive coping strategies and problem-solving skills to address a variety of mental health concerns. Through structured sessions and homework assignments, clients learn to reframe negative thinking and implement positive behavioral changes, leading to symptom reduction and improved overall well-being.
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is utilized to help individuals with emotion dysregulation and interpersonal difficulties by teaching skills in mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness. Through a combination of individual therapy, group skills training, and coaching, DBT aims to enhance clients' ability to manage intense emotions, navigate relationships effectively, and build a life worth living.
Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy is employed to help individuals explore and reconcile conflicting parts of their psyche by fostering self-awareness, self-compassion, and integration of internal dynamics. Through a collaborative therapeutic process, clients learn to understand and communicate with different aspects of themselves, leading to healing, personal growth, and a greater sense of wholeness.
