Hello, my name is Elizabeth and I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker based in California. I received my Master of Social Work degree from the University of Southern California in 2019 and have been practicing for 5 years. I have experience working with adolescents, adults, and the elderly population. In my practice, I have worked with individuals that are struggling with anxiety, depression and substance use.
During our first session, we will start with introductions, discuss confidentially guidelines, and expectations. You will then have the opportunity to share what brought you to therapy. We will also collaborate on a treatment plan that will create a structure for our follow-up sessions. The first session will also serve as an opportunity to see if we are a good fit.
My strengths are being an active listener, empathetic and challenging my clients' negative thoughts.
I enjoy working with adults and the elderly population. My clients are committed to therapy to improve their coping skills and develop a support system.
Elizabeth Diaz offers therapy covered by Central California Alliance for Health (Medi-Cal), Gold Coast Health Plan (Medi-Cal), Health Plan of San Joaquin - Medi-Cal, L.A. Care Health Plan (Medi-Cal), Orange County Mental Health Plan (Medi-Cal), Partnership HealthPlan of California (Medi-Cal) and San Francisco Health Plan (Medi-Cal) in California.
I provide education to clients about the cognitive triangle, which explains how our thoughts, behaviors and emotions affect one another. My clients learn to identify unhealthy or irrational thinking patterns, learn to challenge unhealthy thoughts and develop a healthier or rational way of thinking.
With MI, clients build their motivation to change an unwanted behavior. When using MI in session, we will explore ambivalent feelings and develop a plan to change your behaviors.
During session, I take into account how ones cultural values impact our thoughts, emotions and behaviors. Being culturally competent during session, creates a welcoming environment where my clients can be their authentic self.
In session, I start where my clients are, create a safe and nonjudgmental space, and demonstrate empathy to all my clients.
