What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

During the first session, clients can expect to go over their intake information and answer some questions to understand the reason for utilizing therapy. These questions are universal and allow the therapist to make a diagnosis and treatment plan that is most appropriate for the individual. The therapist and client will collaborate to create goals that the client is interested in achieving (learning/developing). The second session is much more personal and designed to meet the individual needs of the client.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Gloria has over eleven years of experience in mental health care both in acute, and clinical dual diagnosis (psychiatric hospitals), individual therapy, and group therapy. Working with patients with severe psychosis has allowed her to develop a love and appreciation for family and clients who suffer from both physical and mental health disabilities. She has adopted an approach that enables her to continually meet client needs with the appropriate therapeutic rapport. Gloria is very easygoing and likes to build on the clients (already formed) strengths. She has high hopes that you leave a little better than you came. In time away from work Gloria likes to be outside in the sunshine, meeting up with friends and finding new restaurants. She enjoys a good laugh and a nostalgic movie on the couch with her dog and family. Gloria looks forward to working with her clients each day with an empathetic ear and a compassionate heart.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Therapist uses the treatment method to focus on the relationship between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Help the client understand the connection between thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Introduce mindfulness techniques to enhance awareness and acceptance. Relaxation training to incorporate relaxation exercises to manage stress and anxiety. Cognitive Restructuring to identify (cognitive) Distortions and help clients recognize and challenge cognitive distortions. Teach skills to replace negative thoughts and encourage the development of more balanced and realistic thoughts.

Trauma Informed Care

Trauma-Informed Care (TIC) is an approach that recognizes the widespread impact of trauma on individuals. Using Trauma-Informed Care in therapy involves creating a collaborative, empowering, and safe space for clients to explore and process their experiences. Collaborative Decision-Making by involving the client in decision-making processes, allowing them to have a sense of agency. The therapist enjoys using a strengths-based approach, focusing on the client's strengths and resilience rather than solely on deficits.

Person-centered (Rogerian)

Person-Centered Therapy is characterized by its emphasis on the client's subjective experience, self-exploration, and the therapist's empathic understanding. Regularly assess the therapeutic relationship and be open to adapting your approach based on the client's evolving needs. Utilize a person-centered approach across various therapeutic modalities, including individual counseling, group therapy, or family therapy. The therapist uses a humanistic and client-centered approach that emphasizes the therapist's unconditional positive regard, empathy, and genuine understanding.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

The therapist uses Brief Solution-Focused Therapy as designed to be efficient and focused on the client's strengths and solutions. Keeping sessions brief, goal-oriented, and collaborative. Explore Solutions collaboratively, regularly evaluating success and barriers to solving and meeting goals in therapy.

EMDR

EMDR trained!! Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a psychotherapy approach used to help people process and recover from traumatic experiences. It involves the patient recalling distressing memories while simultaneously engaging in guided lateral eye movements or other forms of bilateral stimulation. This process is used to help reprocess traumatic memories, reducing emotional charge and helping individuals restore/store memories more effectively into their broader life experience. EMDR is often used to treat post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and other trauma-related conditions.
