Are you having difficulty managing a new life altering diagnosis of a complex medical condition for yourself or loved one? Understanding diagnoses and managing medical care is overwhelming and I am here to help you navigate your medical journey. I am a licensed clinical psychologist specializing in neuropsychology and neurorehabilitation. I work with children, adolescents, young adults, and their families to adjust to, understand, and cope with complex medical conditions (autoimmune conditions, diabetes, cardiac disease, and other complex medical conditions) and acquired brain injuries (brain tumors, epilepsy, strokes, TBI and acquired brain injury). I provide individual therapy, cognitive rehabilitation, parenting, anxiety management and stress reduction therapies. I help patients and their families understand the neurobiological factors affecting functioning, and identify neurocognitive strengths to maximize outcomes. I also help patients with Back-to-School/college and work transitions following prolonged absences. I help individuals with school and learning difficulties to develop individualized strategies and resources that work for them. I work closely with each patient and patient-family to best understand your needs and concerns as we navigate your medical, academic or emotional journey. I work with adults who are having difficulty managing their anxiety and working through difficult transitions in life including grief, loss, and changes (both positive and negative) that affect functioning.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session together, we'll start with brief introductions, and then dive into the specific challenges you are facing. Together, we will work towards developing a tailored plan for us to address in follow-up sessions. We spend some time focusing on your challenges with some take home tasks and strategies for you to use until our next session.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Having worked with a variety of patients across the US. I have developed a strong repertoire of skills and strategies that allows me to (i) help you understand and address your challenges and (ii) create a tailored plan that leads to measurable progress.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I enjoy working with individuals who are eager and motivated to improve, but need to develop skills, strategies and tools to address their emotional, learning and psychological stressors. I love working with older adolescent and young adults who are eager to improve, but don't yet have the tools needed to make this goal a reality. They often feel stuck, overwhelmed and anxious about academic and social pressures.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Cognitive behavioral therapy is a primary modality that I use in working with patients. Many of my patients/clients often need help to identify and reframe their negative thinking, especially in stressful situations that challenge their ability to cope. CBT helps clients learn useful strategies to manage stress and negative thinking that contribute to anxietyy, depression and trouble coping.

Mind-body approach

I have used the mind-body approach in both inpatient and outpatient settings to manage pain, anxiety , emotional distress and physical symptoms. The interactions between the brain, mind, body, and behaviors (including emotional, mental, social, spiritual, and behavioral factors) can affect health and wellness and is often the key to decreasing both physical and psychological symptoms

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

All of my session and interactions with patients/clients involve some component of mindfulness based therapy (meditation, relaxation and awareness exercises) to help focus on the present moment and reduce the impact of stressors in their everyday interactions.

Motivational Interviewing

Often, patients/clients who have a treatment goal have difficulty working towards that goal. I use motivational interviewing to help my patients/clients understand their resistance and barriers that are preventing them from making that change.
