I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Virginia. I also have achieved status as a Virginia Board Approved Supervisor for LPC and LMFT Residents. I hold a Master in Science degree from North Carolina Agriculture and Technical State University with a concentration in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I also obtained a certificate in Marriage and Family Therapy during graduate studies. I have served clients in the outpatient and community setting. My initial experience was established by providing Intensive In-Home services for at-risk youth and families in the home setting. I have progressed to conducting client comprehensive assessments and have established an outpatient therapy caseload. As a Clinical Supervisor at a community-based facility, I provide clinical supervision to Qualified Mental Health Professionals, review and maintain compliance, and assist with other leadership tasks.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

The first session will consist of a free-flowing psycho-social assessment. My goal at the end of the first session is to gain an understanding of the onset, duration, and frequency of your symptoms. I also strive to see beyond the symptoms and gain a greater understanding of you, the person.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My greatest strength as a provider is simply keeping it real. I believe in meeting the clients where they are while establishing and maintaining a healthy and therapeutic alliances. I also strive to assist clients with connecting the dots to see the bigger picture. Through this process, the goal is to empower clients to create their own destinies.

My treatment methods

Person-centered (Rogerian)

My overall preference is to use Person-centered modalities. Each client and circumstance is different. As a result, I prefer to allow the client to set the pace, determine treatment, and identify desired outcomes. I have utilized the Person-centered approach throughout my clinical training as well as independent clinical experience.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

As individuals are reacting to an event, transition, and/or stressor, it is imperative to fully assess the situation, thoughts, and emotions that occur as a result. The thoughts and emotions are usually the driving force that determines how the client successfully or unsuccessfully adapts to the situation(s) at hand. Through my 8+ years of experience, I have found CBT to be very beneficial across populations and various symptom presentations.
