Hello! I am a licensed marriage and family therapist (LMFT) currently working in the public and private sector in Orange County, California. I have my bachelor's degree in child development from San Diego State University and worked as a preschool teacher for 7 years before becoming a therapist. I have my masters in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy from Azusa Pacific University. I spent the first 7 years as a therapist working with children, youth, and their families in a community-based clinic. Since December of 2023, I've been working with adults struggling with substance use disorders who are part of a treatment court program.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

During our first session together, we will go over mandatory legal disclosures and get to know a little bit about what brings you into therapy. This will be a great time to know whether we are a good fit for one another and if so, we will be setting up our next appointment together.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Working as a therapist since 2015 in community-based clinics and, most recently, in a treatment court program has equipped me to better understand the clients I serve. I understand the impact of early childhood experiences, severe mental illness, and substance use disorders that can hinder how we show up for ourselves and those we love. My goal is to be an agent of hope and provide my clients with a safe environment where healing and growth can take place.

My treatment methods

Strength-Based

My role as a therapist is to develop a therapeutic alliance with my clients of trust and respect where I can, with time, get to know their strengths and point them out for them. Many times we can be our hardest critique and need a reminder of our own strengths and potential. At the end of the day, my clients are the experts of their own lives. I value and respect the knowledge and wisdom each client brings to the therapeutic alliance.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I use CBT to help clients develop a deeper understanding of how their thoughts affect their feelings and behavior. Teaching clients to recognize their own maladaptive thinking and learn healthy ways to challenge their negative thinking is an extremely powerful life skill.

Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)

My theoretical lens is highly influenced by attachment theory. I believe our early childhood attachment styles affect us into adulthood. Learning to recognize our underlying needs and being able to express them effectively can help strengthen our relationships and bring healing to our inner child.
