I have worked in mental health for over 20 years. I received my BA in Psychology in 1994 and my Masters in Social Work in 1997. Since then, I have worked in various settings including the Behavioral Health System of Philadelphia, numerous behavioral health facilities which include psychiatric units, detox and rehabs, college counseling settings and in assisted living/nursing facilities with older adults. In 2013, I started an in person private practice and then made the jump to telehealth during the pandemic. I find that telehealth is much more accessible and convenient for clients as we are still able to do amazing work together! Do you ever feel stuck? Do you feel like nobody understands what you are going through? Do you feel like you have burdened friends and family with your worries even though you know they love you? Do you feel like you have the answers but nobody around you is listening? You do not have to have a major mental health diagnosis to go to therapy. You may be going through a life transition or having trouble communicating with others. You might be surrounded by others with deeper issues which is affecting your mental health. Or you might be suffering from anxiety, depression or past unresolved trauma. You might have disordered eating, obsessive-compulsive tendencies or an urge to use alcohol or drugs to self-medicate your pain. You might be coping in ways that aren’t healthy but that is how you learned to cope. I can help you navigate whatever place you are in and help to elevate you to a healthier space where you feel happier and more in tune with yourself. There are numerous reasons why people come to therapy. Just know that with me, you will be in a judgement free zone and I will utilize my many years of experience to assist you to getting to a better place. I work with anyone over 16 years old. I have specialized experience working with college aged clients and the older adult population. I have a long history of working with those from the LGBTQIA+ population as well. I look forward to meeting and connecting with you!

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

My clients can expect to be heard and validated. They will always hear the truth and be encouraged to be true to themselves. My clients can also expect to laugh a little. We must laugh at some things in life to help with coping!

What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?

Every person is an individual. I am not a fan of using one set of skills for everyone. Therapy is not one size fits all. I will utilize various techniques including but not limited to psychodynamic theory, family systems perspective, cognitive behavioral therapy, strengths-based perspective, person centered therapy, validation, unconditional positive regard, motivational interviewing, trauma focused perspective and solution focused care.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

As someone who has worked in mental healthcare since 1997, there is nothing you can say that will shock me. I want clients to know that I have lived a full life and bring vast experience to the therapy table. You can count on me to be truthful and dependable.
