Hello, my name is Michelle. Therapy at its basic is a safe, nonjudgmental, relationship where you are able to explore barriers to growth and personal change. My role as your therapist is to listen to your story, help you define your goals, and work collaboratively with you to develop creative approaches to achieve them. After 20 years of experience working with adults and adolescents, I can provide perspectives that help you to move forward with a happier, more fulfilling life. People who are dealing with issues such as anxiety, depression, self-harming, stress management, medical issues, relationship problems, and life transitions have come to me for help and have been able to tailor my approach to their specific concerns. You've made the right decision to get into therapy. Join with me and I'll provide the space for you to identify and overcome old ways of doing things that aren't helping you anymore. We'll find new, healthy ways to relate to yourself and others. Let's get started!

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Our first session will be a chance for me to find out about why you're coming to therapy and for you to decide if I'm the right therapist for you. We'll discuss your goals and begin to create a plan to achieve them. After that, we'll work together to implement that plan and periodically take time to evaluate our progress and decide if the goals were met, if we need a new plan, or if we are done with therapy.

What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?

My general approach is person-centered: the goal is to understand your experience and help you feel understood. During the therapeutic process, I use a variety of tools from evidence-based modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Solution-focused therapy and Strength-based therapy.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

After many years working in the medical/hospital setting, I have a unique perspective. I enjoy working with healthcare workers and first responders. This experience also can bring a deeper level of understanding of the challenges of those who are coping with medical problems or illness. In addition, I enjoy working with adults of all ages who are experiencing life transitions and those who have history of trauma.
