The clients who enjoy working with me the most are ones who feel like therapy does not work or does not work for them, individuals who have never tried therapy or people who are currently therapist or in another helping field. I tend to be more direct, I guide, and like to think of therapy as if we are walking up a mountain together each putting in the work. I will always out in the effort.
Your first session with me you can expect to be super easy going. This session is for us to identify needs and expectations of one another. I am hoping to be able to identify a few areas that you would like to start working. I will outline a few ideas of how we can navigate certain challenges, what it may take from both of us moving forward, and what we can hope to see when we have obtained or reached that goal. You can also expect a few laughs and to be in a safe and nonjudgmental space.
With over 7 years of experience in mental health, I specialize in trauma and severe mental health issues. I also have a strong background in crisis intervention and helping individuals navigate everyday stressors. I like to think of therapy as a journey we embark on together, where I walk beside you as you climb the mountains toward your goals.
Jessica Fisher offers therapy covered by Buckeye Health Plan, Buckeye Health Plan (Managed Medicaid), CareSource, Medicaid - Buckeye Health Plan and UnitedHealthcare/Optum - Medicaid in Ohio.
I have a combination of treatment methods that I have integrated into my care. You can expect to receive a client centered, humanistic approach where sessions are guided by myself with the client in mind. I look at the whole person and use several different interventions to meet your needs. I have used a humanistic approach since the beginning of my practice with the idea that each client can achieve their goals.
I have been using CBT, mindfulness based CBT, trauma focused CBT for the past several years of my practice. I have used what I like to call "straight CBT models" where sessions are built around processing and skill building, and you are sent home with homework each week to reinforce those skills. I have also used CBT as an integration with other modalities as well.
I love DBT as a full program and an integration of skills with other modalities. This was the first treatment method I started using on a regular basis. I love that you can learn skills that can help you in the immediate.
I have a ton of experience in groups and really enjoy that groups help clients feel supported. I have created curriculum and helped facilitated Partial hospitalization programs, intensive outpatient programs, and aftercare programs. I will continue to come up with creative interventions and styles for my clients.
This is essentially choice theory which I use quite a bit in my practice helping clients view their behaviors and choices as just that. Then integrating how we can change those behaviors and choices.
