I operate from the stance that people were not intended to suffer alone. Often, burdens that appear too heavy or too great to move beneath feel that way because the individual does not have adequate resources and skills to process the situations or experiences. As a therapist, I have been blessed to stand alongside many individuals as they planted their feet back on the ground and learned to skills necessary to alter their view of self or to shift so that they became bigger than their pain. I have worked in both in-patient and private practice settings over the course of the last eight years. I have experience working with trauma, eating disorders, addiction, process addictions, families, parenting concerns, ADHD, depression, anxiety, and personality disorders. I am capable of engaging in Christian therapy if desired by the client. Overall, my goal as a therapist is to work beside the client as they learn to meet their goals, not to stand in front and pull them along or stand behind and push them. If we need to stand still and sort through some obstacles before moving forward, then that is part of the process and time well spent.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

It is common to feel nervous before meeting your therapist for the first time, even if you've sought therapy previously. Knowing what to expect may help reduce that nervousness. In the first session, we will go over the consent for treatment, limits of confidentiality, and I will answer any questions you have. We will also discuss your goals and what brought you into counseling. Furthermore, we will work to start the process of gathering information about you and your past. You control the flow of information. You can share as much or as little as necessary until you are comfortable sharing more.
