Hi, I am Chaya Aspir, a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW/LCSW), with more than a decade of experience. I work with clients based in MA, NY, and NJ. I specialize in working with Veterans and First Responders and the LGBTQIA+ population. I have extensive education and certifications in these areas.
Our first session will look different than other sessions. The first session consists of lots of questions, which help me get to know more facts and details about you, and what brings you to therapy. Subsequent sessions will be spent speaking in a more relaxed, conversational style.
I focus on your strengths and how to further use them to get you to where you want to be. I can also assist with coping skills, problem solving, and understanding how your past might be impacting the present. I have been described as calming, open-minded, and affirming. You can expect to feel heard, understood, and validated. As well as develop better self-confidence, self-compassion, and empowerment.
I love working with veterans and first responders. I view it as a way to help the helpers, who put themselves in harm's way for our safety and security. I have many years of experience with VFR / MOS and their family members. I understand the culture and stressors unique to this population. In addition, I love working with members of the LGBTQIA+ community. There are aspects of everyday life that the heteronormative population may take for granted. I understand the strengths present amongst individuals in the queer community who learn to navigate those norms and create authenticity.
Interpersonal work addresses issues like social isolation or involvement in unfulfilling relationships. As well as interpersonal disputes that emerge from conflicting expectations between partners, family members, close friends, or coworkers.
Group therapy can be very helpful in allowing people to realize that they are not alone in their challenges. It can help clients form trusting, supportive bonds as well as develop empathy and support for others.
I use an affirmative, empathic approach and I can assist with coping skills, problem solving.
