Hello! I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor located in North Carolina. I obtained my Master’s degree in Counseling from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, where I gained a strong foundation in various therapeutic techniques and approaches. With over five years of professional experience, I have worked with a diverse clientele and helped individuals navigate various mental health challenges. I specialize in supporting clients dealing with issues such as depression and anxiety, providing tools and strategies to improve emotional well-being. I also assist those experiencing grief and loss, guiding them through the complex emotions associated with these difficult times. My practice includes helping individuals manage transition stress—whether it’s related to career changes, moving to a new location, or adjusting to life changes. Additionally, I offer support for relationship problems, helping clients enhance communication and resolve conflicts. For those who have experienced trauma, I employ evidence-based techniques to foster healing and resilience. I also work with individuals facing career-related concerns, helping them identify their goals and navigate workplace challenges. As a bilingual counselor, I am proud to provide counseling services in both English and Spanish. This allows me to connect with a broader range of clients and make mental health support more accessible. My goal is to create a safe and supportive environment where individuals feel empowered to explore their thoughts and feelings, set personal goals, and ultimately achieve a healthier, more fulfilling life.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

During the initial session, clients can expect to review their intake information and answer some questions to help the therapist understand their reasons for seeking therapy. These standard questions will allow the therapist to diagnose and create a treatment plan tailored to the individual's needs. The therapist and client will work together to establish goals that the client wishes to achieve through therapy. Subsequent sessions will be more personalized and focus on meeting the client's needs.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

One of my strongest qualities as a provider is my skill in actively and empathetically listening to others. I work hard to create a safe, non-judgmental environment where clients can express themselves comfortably. Additionally, I have experience customizing treatment plans to meet individual needs and take a collaborative approach to setting therapy goals. I am committed to constantly improving my knowledge and skills to provide the best possible care for my clients.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I have experience using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients address and change unhealthy thought patterns and behaviors. In my practice, I often use CBT techniques to assist clients in recognizing negative thought patterns, challenging those thoughts, and replacing them with more balanced and realistic thoughts. CBT also involves working with clients to change unhelpful behaviors by setting specific goals and using various techniques to modify behaviors over time. I have found CBT to be effective in helping clients manage anxiety, depression, and other mental health concerns.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

I have found Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to be an efficient approach in my practice. I use it to help clients who struggle with regulating their emotions, managing interpersonal relationships, and coping with distress. DBT's skills training, focusing on mindfulness, emotion regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness, has been invaluable in helping my clients achieve a greater sense of control and well-being in their lives. Combining individual therapy, skills training, and coaching has brought significant positive changes in my clients. I have witnessed firsthand how it can help people transform their lives.

EMDR

I have been using Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) in my practice for some time now. I have found it to be an effective therapy for helping individuals process and overcome traumatic experiences. EMDR involves using bilateral stimulation, such as eye movements or tapping, to help clients reprocess distressing memories and reduce their emotional impact. In my practice, I typically use EMDR with clients who have experienced trauma, such as those with PTSD, anxiety, or related issues. I have seen significant improvements in clients' ability to cope with their past experiences and reduce associated distress after using EMDR as part of their treatment.

Motivational Interviewing

Motivational interviewing is an approach that I have integrated into my practice to help clients explore and resolve ambivalence around behavior change. I find it particularly useful when working with clients who may be resistant or uncertain about making changes in their lives. Motivational interviewing allows me to engage clients in a collaborative and empathetic way, helping them to identify their motivations for change and resolve any conflicting feelings they may have. I use reflective listening, open-ended questions, and affirmations to facilitate a non-judgmental and supportive environment for clients to explore and articulate their goals. This approach has proven effective in empowering clients to make meaningful, lasting changes.

Person-centered (Rogerian)

In my practice, I use Rogerian-centered therapy, also known as person-centered therapy, to create a supportive and nonjudgmental environment for clients. By offering unconditional positive regard, empathy, and genuineness, I aim to facilitate self-exploration and awareness. This approach has effectively built a solid therapeutic alliance, helping clients feel understood and accepted.
