Hi there! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker servicing mental health needs for over 10 years, graduated with my undergraduates in Psychology and Spanish, followed by my Master's of Science in Social Work, and ended with my Doctorate of Clinical Leadership in Social Work. I've previously worked with multi-ethnic children in foster group homes, adults in the Dallas area, with women, and most recently with active duty military personnel. I help people process and heal from trauma, which is a privilege for me, and I help people also deal with day to day life challenges brought on by mental health concerns in our lives.
For our first session, I'd like to get to know you, what brings you here, and some about your background. Knowing your goals and where you are at with them when coming for help, assists in knowing how to tailor a plan that will help us achieve your goals in therapy.
I acknowledge people's challenges from their perspective and in light of the society and societal expectations that we live in. I bring in a trained listening ear, encourage compassion, awareness, acceptance and growth while recognizing sometimes some of the systematic challenges that we may deal with.
Learning to live life out of values versus goals can help us learn how to deal with the natural human experience and world of emotions.
Understanding the impact of trauma in our lives in specific key areas and processing these areas can lead us on a path towards healing.
Learning to be present with ourselves is one of the most compassionate things we can do for ourselves.
Every culture has its strengths, what I like to call its glory, and its challenges. Can we learn to make peace with and find joy with our various backgrounds?
I believe faith is key in our journey towards healing, believing in what you cannot see is part of having hope.
