Hello fellow traveler, Life that is lived to the fullest is our greatest adventure. Sometimes, we get smacked with a roadblock. It is common to react with anxiety, depression, or a need to sort things out. It is normal to feel this way, yet it can seem that our ability to function optimally is affected when this happens. You can do this. You can be successful in moving through the struggle. You are not alone. I care, I will listen, I will respond, and I know what I am doing. Let me walk with you and apply my clinical knowledge as you gather new life hacks to facilitate your great journey. I am a psychologist with over 20 years of experience in the field of mental health across all levels of care. I have provided Individual, couples, family, and group counseling. I brought my years of experience to the tele-mental health world to offer the solution to time management and logistical issues to many individuals who might otherwise find it difficult to show up to their psychotherapy appointment and found much success with that approach. I have spent a large portion of my life facilitating overcoming the struggle with anxiety or pushing through depression, or one of the many emotionally debilitating mental health issues. Psychological and emotional pain is real, yet it can be managed, and we can heal.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Our first session will allow us to get to know each other and to get comfortable with the tele- health experience. During the first one to three sessions, we will become clear about your unique situation, desired outcomes from therapy, and your preferred therapeutic style. This initial process alone often provides a significant amount of relief as having a clear mind sets the stage for moving forward. You will be empowered to explore your inner and outer world. You will have greater confidence in managing stress and overwhelm with improved decision making, relationship, and problem solving and coping abilities. You will have a trusted confidant to walk with you as you overcome life's challenges.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My strength is my ability to connect with you, analyze the struggles you bring to the table, and encourage a collaborative approach to your empowerment as your facilitator and consultant. We may call this therapy, but you are doing the work. My life work has provided me with a large treasure chest of ideas and processes for you to use or engage in and/or apply to your journey of life creation. We can drill down to specifics such as skills building (communication, organization, decision making etc); we can process and gain insights into our confusions and gain clarity and direction; and we can experience what is called, "an emotionally corrective experience" that changes us from the inside out.

My treatment methods

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

My apporach is integrated including those approaches listed and more. My goal is to match my client's therapeutic style. We start with ACT (Acceptance and Committment) then branch out in a way that best meets my client's needs. I began integrating ACT into my Cognitive Behavioral approach approximately 5 year ago and have found that most of my clients really like this step by step approach to acquiring, mastering, and using skills. I use a "coaching/consultaton" like engagement with the ACT providing additonal psycho education as needed to facilitate my client's self help process. This empowers my clients and I have seen great results in a much shorter length of time than with traditional/older appraches-methods. By having the client follow a setp by step guide; and providing coaching/consultaton, we have time during the sessions to process, identify and resolve inner and outer conflicts and barriers, and explore.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

My apporach is integrated including those approaches listed and more. My goal is to match my client's therapeutic style. We start with ACT (Acceptance and Committment) then branch out in a way that best meets my client's needs. ACT is a sub category of CBT; however, often a client will want to branch out and complete self assessments, identify triggers, confront acquired thought habbits that are not helpful and more. I combine CBT with a focus on self compassion and I facilitate my cient's problem solution process when helpful.

Positive Psychology

Positive psychology is similar to cognitive behavioral therapy but has an empahsis on the future, life goals, values clarification, vision mappiong, and positive apporaches to use whle moving forward. This approach is weaved throuout my regular sessons and is applied when and if the client is ready. My experience with using this method for over 15 years has shown me that those clients who are working through a transition and are ready to set goals for thier future produces very satisfying result.
