I hold a prior career in social activism using artistic platforms to bring awareness to policy issues that affect communities of historically marginalized people. My prior career influences my practice by prioritizing the importance of providing a safe space for self-expression. I enjoy bringing a social constructivist lens to the work I do as a psychotherapist. I strongly believe in using self-as-tool so my approach includes a lot of transparency and flexibility. I believe therapy is most helpful when it's a hands-on process and aim to create sessions that feel tangible because sharing our stories is only one piece of the healing process. I want my clients to know exactly why sessions help them feel better.
In a first session I want to not only obtain important information about challenges but I also want to create space for us to get to know each other a bit. I also like explaining more about my process so the client can see if we truly are a good fit.
I'm process oriented so my clients know what is happening in sessions more specifically than the average talk therapy session. I'm neurodivergent and live with a chronic illness; these factors influence how I model self-care for my clients and how I see the process of therapy.
I love working with people at all stages in life- I appreciate that we work on our mental health in different ways so sometimes my clients are on similar pages in their mental health care but in very different places in life stages.
Training through agencies I have worked at as well as an extensive CEU course.
