Hi, I am Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor in NC and received my Master's Degree from Western Carolina in May of 2019. I have worked with a wide range of clients aging from 4-65 years and have experience treating a wide range of mental health concerns to include Trauma, PTSD, Anxiety, Depression, Psychosis, Attachment Disorders, Mood Disorders, Eating Disorders, and Addiction.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session together I will work to explore your symptoms, identify strengths, learn about your current life circumstance and identify your goals for treatment to create a tailored treatment plan. I will share more about my own approach to treatment and how I can best service you as your therapist.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I work diligently to be a person-centered therapist and believe that all clients hold the answers to their own experiences. I will never act as the expert in your life and will attempt to learn from you and your experiences to assist you in creating change. I am always looking for the strengths in every person and using those to assist you in creating action steps that will work to help you feel proud of the work you are doing in your life.

My treatment methods

EMDR

I have been using EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) in my practice since the Spring of 2020 and have completed EMDR certification. EMDR helps to assist clients in identifying underlying negative core beliefs and reprocess those experiences to reduce emotional responses and strengthen positive beliefs about self. EMDR is a more rapid approach to treatment, typically lasting no more than a year, depending on the severity of experiences. EMDR can be used to address long-term trauma or to address a singular traumatic experience that is causing significant disturbance to your life.

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

ACT is a value-based approach to treatment. Through engaging in ACT we focus on identifying cognitive messaging that results in maladaptive patterns and often prevents you from living a life of value. We will work to explore your true values, actions we can take to immediately begin taking steps for living a more valued life and focus on acceptance of the human experience.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

I believe that all people have significant strengths and throughout my time as a therapist I have been able to work with clients to find their strengths in the most difficult of situations. I prefer building onto the strengths that already exist and using those to move towards living a successful and positive life.
