Hello everyone and welcome! I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Georgia. I received my masters in Clinical Counseling Psychology at Brenau University in Gainesville, GA. I specialize in treating anxiety-related disorders and also specialize in working with attachment-based patterns and behaviors. I use an integrative approach with adult clients to tailor therapy to best fit each individual client's needs.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session together, we will discuss brief introductions along with gathering essential background information and current medical, social, occupation, and other relevant histories to create the best tailored measurement-based treatment plan. We will work on these goals in follow up sessions. I like to allow conversation style in the session to the intake appointment and less question/answer format.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I believe in my 9 years of working in a variety of mental health settings have exposed me to many effective treatment modalities that I love to pull from and treat each client. When I work with clients who want a fellow Christian therapist, I am able to understand and relate to these clients in their beliefs. As an introvert and great at observing and being present, I am skilled in empathy and expressing genuineness and unconditional positive regard. I want my clients to feel safe in sessions with me and feel open to be themselves.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I love working with anyone who needs help along their journey to get to their best self. I often see that my clients are eager to improve, but don't yet have the tools needed to make their goals a reality. They often feel stuck, overwhelmed and anxious about their current issues.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

CBT is considered a gold standard and empirically validated treatment for a variety of mental health issues, including anxiety, depression, life transitions, grief, etc. There are many modalities that fall under CBT, such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Trauma Focused-CBT, Mindfulness-Based CBT, etc that may be helpful in treatment. In sessions together we would decide on an unique personalized treatment goals and use CBT to help you meet your goals. In session we may learn techniques for coping, identifying and managing emotions, resolving relationship conflicts, and learning effective communication skills. Overall, CBT helps you to make connections between how our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are connected and to learn strategies to change our behaviors.

Attachment-based

Attachment-based theory is used in therapy with me when someone is seeking treatment for help with attachment behaviors and patterns that are a result of trauma in childhood or just difficulty with committing in a relationship or fears of abandonment. In this therapy approach, we would look at the connection between early attachment experiences with primary caregivers and how you have learned to develop and form emotional and physical relationships as an adult. Attachment-based therapy is a process-oriented approach where you and I will work on building trust and supportive relationships in your life that will help alleviate any anxiety or any anxious/avoidant attachment patterns.

Exposure Response Prevention (ERP)

ERP is considered the gold standard treatment for OCD, impulse control disorders, phobias, and anxiety. In therapy we would use ERP to gradually expose you to your obsessions or phobias or fears in a safe and controlled environment. We would work together on an exposure hierarchy and you would learn helpful coping techniques and strategies.

Christian Counseling

If you are wanting treatment for any mental health related issues, but would also like to work with a Christian counselor or incorporate your faith in your therapy journey, this is for you. I am a born again believer and Christian Counseling is basically therapy with an added support of knowing me as your counselor shares the same faith as you do. Therapy is a blend of modern psychotherapy techniques with spirtual principles to help you overcome your mental health struggles.

Person-centered (Rogerian)

Person-Centered is a client based form of therapy that aims to empower you, the client to take ownership of your own mental well-being. This approach allows you to feel safe and become more self aware to find solutions to struggles. This approach to therapy describes my personality style, in that, I am there to offer genuineness, unconditional positive regard, and empathy so that you feel heard and safe to discuss what you want to bring to therapy.
