LCSW, 8 years of experience
Hello, my name is Sheila Owens, LCSW. I have worked in the mental health field for more than 37 years. The past 8 years in this health field has been working in a therapist role. I have a privately owned therapy practice and contract with agencies/ insurances to offer individual therapy sessions to adults of all ages. I have a passion for mental wellness and am always amazed by the dedication that individuals put in to positively transitioning their life.
In our first session we will have an opportunity for introductions and then begin to dive into reasons that you believe that therapy can be helpful to you now. We will determine your goals and determine an individualized plan to begin working toward identified goals.
I have a strength of challenging thinking patterns which may be hindering growth, I offer coping strategies and skills to aid in positive change. I like to ensure that individuals maintain their autonomy, build strengths, and become closer to their ideal selves.
I have an array of individuals that I have worked with and/or currently working with who are experiencing an array of life issues. Because of the number of years and experience that I have had the opportunity to have in the field of mental wellness I believe that most individuals can work easily with me as we address their concerns and mt their goals. I have many reviews that indicate that people are pleased with our sessions and indicate they were tremendously helpful.
I have been utilizing CBT practices for many years to help individuals recognize and combat cognitive distortions. I aid them in finding effective ways to repattern cognitions that are no longer useful in their life.
I am DBT trained and worked with a specialty DBT team for several years. I aid individuals in incorporating a skills-based approach to develop core mindfulness, interpersonal effectiveness, emotion regulation and distress tolerance.
