Hi! I'm a Licensed Professional Counsellor (LPC) based in Virginia. I received my Masters from the University of Connecticut and my Bachelor's from Virginia Tech. I've been providing compassionate and effective therapy to individuals facing a variety of life changes over the last 20 years. I specialize in using evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy to help clients achieve their goals and improve their overall well-being. Whether you're navigating anxiety, depression, or life transitions, I am here to provide a supportive, nonjudgmental space to explore your strengths, build resilience, and create meaningful change.
In your first therapy session, you can expect to have a comforting and welcoming environment where you will be encouraged to share your thoughts and feelings. I will start by getting to know you, discussing the reasons for seeking therapy, and learning about your background and current challenges. It’s a chance for us to build rapport and establish trust, so you can ultimately feel comfortable asking questions you have about therapy. The first session may not dive deeply into specific issues, but it will lay the foundation for our future sessions.
My greatest strengths lie in my empathy and authenticity. I make it a priority to listen carefully and attentively, helping to build trust and gain a clear understanding of the challenges that led you to therapy. My goal is for you to feel safe enough to share openly and honestly during our sessions. This allows me to identify patterns in your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, so I can offer guidance, feedback, and new perspectives that you may not have considered, giving you more options for addressing both your current and future challenges.
I find great satisfaction in working with young adults facing anxiety, relationship challenges, or struggling with life transitions. I also enjoy supporting adolescents dealing with stress from academic pressures, parent-child conflict, or difficulties in peer relationships.

I have extensive knowledge and practical expertise in utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients address a wide range of mental health issues. I employ CBT to assist individuals in identifying and reframing negative thought patterns, building healthier coping mechanisms, and fostering sustainable behavioral changes. In my practice, I tailor CBT techniques to each client's unique needs, whether it’s managing anxiety, overcoming depression, or addressing maladaptive behaviors. My hope is to empower clients to achieve meaningful and lasting improvements in their well-being.
I use Motivational Interviewing (MI) techniques to support clients in navigating ambivalence and fostering intrinsic motivation for change. By creating a collaborative and nonjudgmental environment, I help clients explore their values, set meaningful goals, and strengthen their commitment to personal growth. In my practice, MI is particularly effective for addressing challenges such as lifestyle changes, self-esteem issues, and guiding clients toward empowering decisions and sustainable progress.
I use Marriage and family therapy as a form of psychotherapy that addresses the behaviors of all family members and the way these behaviors affect the individual and family unit. Therapy focuses on communication, coping skills, constructive problem-solving, as well as ways to build trust and strengthen healthy relationships in a family system.
