Hi, my name is Jennifer, you can call me Jenn. Im a psychiatric nurse practitioner in the state of Texas. I love what I do. In my spare time, I love to read. I spend a lot of time reading about how different medications work; not everyone's idea of a fun time. I remind myself often, thats because Im where I need to be.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Our first session will take some time. The first session usually lasts about an hour. That may seem like a long time, but there is a lot of information to cover. We talk about what your current concerns are, family history, medical history, and what has and has not worked in the past for you.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Working with patients for over ten years, I've learned how to listen. Listening and getting the whole story helps make sure we are heading in the right direction so you can get the care you need.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

Clients I am best positioned to serve? Everyone. If you are struggling with depression, anxiety, things you dont understand, or worry you are on the wrong medications, I can help you. I can also help you feel confident that your plan of care is right for you. At this time, I am unable to treat ADHD if you need a stimulant. What I can do to help is prescribe a non-stimulant or I can refer you to another provider that I know can help you.

My treatment methods

Trauma Informed Care

My experience utilizing trauma informed care, you expect everyone is going through something and you never know what that could be. In order to provide competent care, you have to anticipate that your own manners and behaviors can affect the patient in a negative way. Understanding this from the very beginning, I am able to be compassionate, establish a therapeutic relationship with the patient, and together we can work towards recovery.

Psychodynamic

You ever feel sad or anxious and wonder where those emotions are coming from because you cant identify the cause or any triggers? Using psychodynamic theory, the provider analyzes the patients past and current behaviors in order to understand what is causing current symptoms. We can then work through it together so you dont have to carry that inner struggle around with you any more.
