Hello, I'm Holly! Do you find yourself feeling overwhelmed with feelings of anxiety, depression or stress? Are you going through a tough life transition? Are you struggling to cope with cancer or some other serious health issue? Are you ready to feel better and live a better life? We all encounter challenging points in life that can feel unmanageable and I am here to empower you to successfully navigate these challenges. I will help you identify the counseling goals that are most important to you and find the tools you need to effectively deal with difficult situations and emotions. I focus on providing you with a safe and caring space where we can collaborate to build upon your strengths, learn new skills and work toward making positive changes.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

After your first session, you can expect to have at least one defined goal and a vision of what tools and strategies will help you reach your goals. After we've worked together for a while you will notice positive changes taking hold and meaningful progress toward your goals. You will also likely feel less overwhelmed and have greater confidence in your ability to effectively manage difficult situations and emotions.

What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?

I tailor my therapeutic approach to meet your unique needs, drawing from various models of psychotherapy including, cognitive behavior, person-centered, motivational interviewing, strength-based, and solution-focused methods. I believe that the majority of change and progress happens outside of the therapy session so I emphasize the use of action plans or "homework" to practice and test new skills and strategies in between sessions. This often involves the use of tools such as worksheets to aid in practicing and developing new skills. Throughout therapy I also use questionnaires to measure symptoms, track your progress and adjust your treatment plan as needed. PLEASE NOTE: I am currently only providing individual psychotherapy and do not offer couples therapy.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My counseling style can be described as compassionate, non-judgmental and supportive. I always start where you are at in your journey to healing and improvement. I specialize in using cognitive behavioral techniques to help clients with depression and anxiety to achieve meaningful improvements in a relatively short period of time. I also have extensive, specialized experience counseling people (and their loved ones) who are dealing with cancer and other serious illnesses. I provide support and empower them to cope with the emotional and practical issues that they may encounter from the time of diagnosis, during treatment, and into life after treatment.
