Hello there! I’m really glad you’re here. Deciding to improve your mental health by beginning therapy is a major decision. I’m Natalie Madriz, I have been a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) since 2014. I earned by Masters Degree at the University of Southern California. I have over 10 years of experience working in courts, jails and detention facilities with clients who struggle with trauma, substance abuse and severe mental illness. I have been providing individual therapy virtually since 2022. Helping clients improve their mental health is something that is truly rewarding and important to me. My goal while working with you is to create a safe and supportive environment that encourages self exploration and a new perspective on ways you can improve your quality of life. I help clients identify short and long term goals and work with them to determine the best strategies to achieve them. We will discuss ways you can take immediate action in your daily life that will feel empowering.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

During our first session together, we will start with what you feel is impacting you the most at the moment. I like to work on current challenges in real time so that we can start to determine the best path forward.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I have worked with a wide variety of adults ranging from college students, young professionals, adults approaching retirement, professional athletes and people who are at the crossroads of choosing a new career path--so I have a wealth of experience! My greatest strength is my ability to connect from the heart. I truly love helping people and I am able to build rapport and trust with my clients in a short amount of time.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I love working with adults of any age who are ready to begin working on themselves and committed to being open and consistent throughout the therapeutic process. Each stage of life presents itself with unique challenges that can be worked through with proper support.

My treatment methods

Psychodynamic

As a psychodynamic therapist, I focus on the roots of emotional suffering which is typically connected to our childhood experiences. I help my clients self reflect and examine the problematic communication and relationship patterns that have been developed over time. Psychodynamic therapy is highly effective and is helpful in addressing childhood emotional wounds, assertive communication and healthy boundaries.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I find that using cognitive behavioral techniques when appropriate, adds to the client’s understanding between their thoughts, emotions and behavior, and how they can influence one another. Techniques such as reframing negative thoughts, thought stopping, grounding techniques and role playing are effective ways to help client take immediate action to improve their daily lives.
