I ve been a Licensed Marriage and Family therapist in the State of Colorado since 1998 . I m also a Certified Addictions Specialist and work with Substance Use Disorders. I do couples counseling and will see clients individually who have relationship concerns. I also work with individuals experiencing anxiety, depression and stressors in their life. I help them to navigate through challenging times in their lives.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

I tend to be informal other then completing the intake. I do like to know some about the client such as their living situation and current issues they are experiencing. This may also lead to a bit of probing on history depending on the issue but not in depth as may pick back up on history later. I ask the client what they are wanting to work on and what is currently going on currently in their life. At the end of the session I like to have them have at least one possibly two goals to be implementing toward making some steps toward their goals. These do not have to be big steps.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I think I m non judgemental and provide a comfortable environment to open up to. I think I can reflect back well what they are hoping to be different in their lives. I can provide great support and empathy toward achieving and gaining a confidence in the to do so. I also have in put on coping and relationship strategies to offer up and explore. It will be the client that ultimately decides on which ones they would like to use.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I tend to have a collaborative and interactive approach in sessions. Thus this may be what works the best if the client is wanting a more interactive and collaborative therapy experience.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I have used cognitive-behavioral to help with coping and use of reframing and gaining new perspectives be it self talk about self or in regard to others and situations that are challenging.

Gottman method

Use of Gottman Method for relationship counseling. Also can be helpful in individual therapy as well for those wanting to improve relationships.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

I use this strategy as I believe it important the client has the expertise ultimately in what works for them. I may offer suggestions but solution focused is to help the client find their solutions within collaborative therapy session.

Strength-Based

Its important to focus on strengths either already or ones that are being developed. This is also used for person centered therapy as well
