Welcome to my profile! Thank you for taking that step of courage to seek the healing you desire! I am Delores Mayen, LCSW/LMSW-C. I am a licensed Clinical Social Worker in Texas and Michigan, who provides Christian faith-based therapy to adults who face challenges with anxiety, childhood-trauma, adult trauma, abuse, relationship building and just the currents involved when navigating through this thing called life. I also work with young adults, single-mothers, women with families, and men/women who have experienced childhood sexual abuse. I have experience working in the mental health field for over 10 years and have been providing clinical therapy services for 6 years. I am passionate about this field because I believe that everyone deserves healing in all areas of their life and that a diagnosis or challenge does not define a person. I offer faith-based Christian therapy to all of my potential clients, as I found that this is the most beneficial method of treatment I have ever worked with in practice. I have worked with clients who have made remarkable progress and found hope when engaging in this faith-based practice. I will be more than happy to work with anyone who is open to trying faith-based Christian therapy, as I can guarantee they will not be disappointed. Spirituality from diverse religious beliefs and practices from around the world, are widely accepted when addressing healing in the mental health field. However, it is unfortunate that Christian-faith based therapy, is a priceless gem that has been overlooked in the healing sector of mental health. I am here, as a clinician to offer that gem for the benefit and wellness of potential clients, who would like to experience everlasting healing. Please feel free to reach out and schedule to speak with me to learn more about the services I provide. Delores Mayen, LMSW/LCSW
Our first session will consist of building rapport and gathering information regarding why you are here and what you would like to work on. I will be able to explain and answer any questions you have regarding services and your preference on how you would like services to be provided. We will discuss confidentiality rights, informed consent, and provider/client agreement documentation to be read and signed. I would also need to verify your identity due to tele-health state laws and safety purposes. We would then plan to meet again to complete any assessments based on needs or potential presenting diagnosis and documentation for release of information, if needed.
My greatest strength as a clinician is working with my clients by providing the best care for their specific needs. I am patient and compassionate about my clients progress in meeting their goals. I express empathy and encouragement with all clients I work with, as each person is valuable and should be treated and viewed as such. I am kind and honest in providing treatment. I do challenge my clients, based on their level of change they are experiencing. I believe in meeting a client where they are at and going at the pace they are comfortable in. With gentle nudges here and there for the benefit of them reaching their goals and receiving the healing they are here for. I am skilled at providing helpful tools to assist clients in their healing, that they can use in between sessions and monitoring their progress. I am good at communicating and being available through email in-between sessions to answer any questions regarding handouts or tools that have been provided to them.
This treatment method has been useful for many clients I have worked with who are open to receiving healing from past/recent trauma. This treatment method focuses on the spiritual aspect that trauma is targeted in but often not identified with. This method is based on spiritual principals that are beneficial to mental and emotional wellness. Many clients I have worked with are encouraged and find this method to tackle those stubborn areas they have struggled with for years, to begin to lose its grip on their mental, emotional and physical impact that anxiety, trauma, depression and many other disorders, have had on their lives. I find the success rate to be higher with clients who are open to this treatment method than those who prefer non-Christian, faith-based therapy. I find the results to be remarkable and refreshing in my practice, to witness healing at a progressive rate with my clients. Highly recommend this treatment with all of my potential clients.
CBT is an evidence-based practice that I have found very helpful to target thoughts, emotions and actions. This treatment is very helpful with clients who are experiencing anxiety, stress, depression and who have a history of trauma. I often use this treatment as a combination with the Christian , faith-based therapy as they complement each other so well. I have been using this treatment since I started practicing and found it to produce positive results in taking control of their thought process and managing emotions.
Faith-based therapy is often associated with Christian counseling. Spirituality in mental health is beginning to become more relevant as individuals begin to realize that soul care is often rooted in their faith. As a clinician, it is a privilege to support a client’s choice to explore their faith and spiritual health. Often times, many clients who have or had a spiritual background, find their mental health treatment to be impacted in a positive way as they are centered on their faith. In treatment, I use biblical truths, offer prayer before, during and after session, led either by myself or the client. Clients who engaged in prayer in the early stages of treatment, became more comfortable and confident in their prayer life by the end of treatment. This greatly impacted the progress of them meeting their treatment goals.
I have received training and experience using motivational interviewing since I began working in the mental health field as a supports coordinator for individuals with developmental delays. I then continued to use this beneficial method with clients in practice. Clients find this method helpful in identifying and understanding their needs, ideas, beliefs, strengths and barriers. This method is essential for clients to feel empowered in finding the best solution when problem solving.
Person-centered planning is essential in my practice due to the fact that every individual is their own unique person, with goals unique to their own personal life and needs. I have been using this treatment method for over 10 years when working with consumer and clients. It is important in treatment to treat each client on an individual basis and not based on commonalities associated with typical diagnosis symptoms. Each client has their own personal experiences that are unique to them. It is important to recognize this in person-centered planning, in order for the client to receive the best treatment possible to meet their needs.
