Hi! I'm a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the state of Georgia with 28+ years in the field. I have worked with individuasl, couples, families, and groups providing therapeutic services for an array of presenting problems and concerns. I also help client's who want to divorce in the healthiest manner possible for all parties involved. I work mainly with adult clients of all genders with various presenting issues. ****Please note, I do not accept insurance for couples counseling, but will accept cash pay for couples therapy. Couple's therapy is $125 per session.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Our first session will be an opportunity to get to know each other and gain clarification on expectations and goals for treatment. This will include information gathering about current circumstances that led to treatment, as well as historical experiences that impact ones current life.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My greatest strengths as a therapist include relatability, the ability to assist client's in gaining insight by indentifying underlying feelings that the client may not be readily aware of. Additionally, I recognize that non of us have "arrived," and we are all imperfect humans on a journey towards greater self love and love of others. Also I love to laugh and I don't take myself too seriously.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I use CBT to assist clients in recognizing the connection between their thoughts, feelings and behaviors. Sometimes thoughts may become distorted which can impair our judgement, impact decision making and self esteem. Addressing and challenging distorted thoughts can lead to a more positive outlook on life.

Couples Counseling

Couple's counseling can be benefitial by assisting with facilitating clear and healthy communication, boundaries and expectations. Additional benefits include understanding the impact of family of origin issues on one's current relationships, and exploring and addressing the root cause of relational conflicts. Couple's counseling can also be beneficial to those who have decided to end the relationship, but want to do so in a manner that is most beneficial healthy for all parties involved including minor children.

Family Therapy

Family therapy can be benefitial by assisting with facilitating clear and healthy communication, boundaries and expectations among family members. Identification of roles, dynamics, relational patterns are essential in providing family therapy. Additional benefits include exploring and addressing the root causes of relational conflicts.

Imago Relationship Theory

I use Imago relationship theory approach as a means of assisting couples in identifying childhood wounds or unresolved parent/child relational issues and how they may manifest in the couples current relationship. When each partner in the dyad is able to feel safe enough to allow vulnerability, these early wounds can be accessed and healed withinn the context of the couple. relationship.

Motivational Interviewing

I use Motivational Interviewing as a collaborative approach to address and resolve ambivalence that interferes with taking steps towards actions that will bring about positive change in the person's life. By using open ended questions, reflective listening skills, validation the client gains an understanding of the barriers that can interfere with change, as well as empower the client to take action by affirming their ability to do so. In conjunction with other modalities, Motivational interviewing can be effective in addressing addiction to substances as well as process addictions
