Hi, I’m Angela. I am a Board Certified Licensed Clinical Social Worker specializing in helping individuals cope with the everyday stressors of life, reaching their full potential and seeing themselves in a new light. I have provided therapy to individuals from children to the elderly. I also have experience providing therapy to adults with an Intellectual Disability and have used modified treatment strategies to work effectively with that population. I use a strength based approach and encourage you to talk about whatever it is you would like to work on to set the pace for your sessions and develop your treatment goals. Whether you're dealing with feeling overwhelmed, relationship issues or cycles of anxiety and depression, I am here to help. Seeking therapy can feel scary but you are making the right decision. You deserve a safe space to express yourself, reflect, heal and grow. In our sessions together, I will meet you with compassion and evidence-based techniques so you can identify and overcome any barriers that you feel are holding you back. We can work together!
What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?
During your initial therapy session, you can expect a warm and confidential environment where you're encouraged to share your thoughts and feelings at your own pace. I first talk about the therapeutic process, confidentiality, and your goals for therapy. Be prepared to provide some background information, such as your personal history and current challenges. I may also ask questions to better understand your situation and assess your needs. Approaching the first session with openness and a willingness to engage in the therapeutic process sets the foundation for a productive and supportive therapeutic relationship.
What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?
I have worked with people to increase self-esteem, manage anger, improve parenting skills and accept their life's situations without judgement or regret. I have also worked on processing grief using a narrative therapy approach. I use a modified DBT to work with individuals with an IDD diagnosis to manage behaviors and use more effective coping skills.
Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.
I enjoy talking with people and will use a person centered approach while working with you on your goals. I also like to focus on solutions and provide a safe space for you to process your feelings and talk about issues that may be going on in your life. I am looking forward to working with you.
