My name is Tamara S. Lewis, I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I have been working in the Behavioral Health Field for nearly 10 years and in Private Practice for the last 5yrs. I work with couples who struggle with communication, conflict management and intimacy issues. I work with individuals who struggle with anxiety and depression. I am a transformative therapist. I teach individuals and couples the tools necessary to transform their lives and relationships in a way that is meaningful for them. I teach skills that clients are able to utilize outside of the therapy space to mange day to day life events long after therapy has ended. I take great pride in the progress and success of my clients and look forward to helping you

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session we will start with brief introductions and a quick review of the intake practice paperwork. I will complete an assessment so that I can get a better understanding of who you are and what your are looking to gain from therapy so that we can determine the best course of action together.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My greatest strength as a therapist is my ability to create a warm, welcoming and safe environment in which a person can show up authentically and not worry about being judged! I am a safe place.

My treatment methods

Gottman method

I have been using the Gottman Method for the past 5yrs to work with couples who struggle with intimacy, communication and conflict management. This method has allowed couples to gain the skills they need to build a sense of connectedness, intimacy, effective communication and conflict management.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I use CBT to help clients challenge their reoccurring thoughts and manage their anxiety and depression. We’ll use CBT to recognize how your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors influence each other. We’ll then use that knowledge to change your thinking patterns, which will help you lead a less anxious, depressed and stressed life.

EMDR

I use EMDR to help my clients heal from trauma and other distressing life experiences. Through EMDR clients reprocess traumatic events in order to decrease or eliminate distressing emotions.
