Hello! My name is Jill and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I have been seeing adults in therapy for several years. My background is in the therapeutic foster care system in Baltimore, Maryland, working with children, teens, and families who have experienced traumatic life events. I now work with people of all ages on a variety of issues.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

During the first session we talk a little bit about what brought you to therapy and what you hope to gain out of the experience. I gather background information and history just to get an idea of where you are coming from. I will answer any questions you have about the therapeutic process, my history, and anything else you want to know. My aim is to allay your concerns and provide you with hope for the future.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I once heard that a person becomes a therapist to be for others what they themselves needed from their past therapists. With a history of anxiety and depression, I have been through loss of a pregnancy at 22 weeks, loss of a parent, a divorce, a blended family, etc. and am now trying to navigate being an empty nester. I saw multiple therapists over the years and it took a long time to find one that fit. I have been told that I'm compassionate, genuine, caring, and help people feel safe.

My treatment methods

Compassion Focused

We all share in the experience of what it is to be human. Practicing with compassion means understanding the feelings of others. It is simply relating and acknowledging that we are all ultimately in the same boat and that we are not in it alone.

Humanistic

Each of us has our own individual value, strengths, and the potential for growth. I practice with unconditional positive regard, without judgement, and belief that we are all worthy of feeling better.

Eclectic

People are diverse, well-rounded, and unique. I utilize a natural perspective where I take ideas from many different theories and modalities. No one specific kind of therapy defines my style.
