Hi! My name is Evelyn Torres I am Licensed Therapist, Life Couch, Biblical counselor and Mentor with 20+ years experience. My life's purpose is to empower others with the knowledge and skills necessary to live a healthy and abundant life. In doing so, I developed a yearning to seek understanding to life's most challenging issues. Do these sound familiar? I'm overwhelmed, can't focus, too anxious and depressed. I've lost motivation and always feel tired. I feel like I am losing control of things. I can't seem to communicate anymore with my spouse. I don't know what I want anymore. Why can't things be better? Allow me to help. I'm passionate about finding you answers to life's most difficult questions. I specialize in using CBT as a start, with it's ABC Model on "Cognitive Functioning." I have broken down the each part emphatically by adding the STOP and THINK TECHNIQUE to question your thoughts, disprove the lies that cause confusion, disqualify opinions and avoid assumptions, all seeded by your thoughts. While striving to find a solution, and in it's absence a path toward acceptance. The longest path in life is from Denial to Acceptance while Resistance being it's culprit. Once you have discovered this Formula all will make sense and confusion will no longer exist. Work Experience: Licensed Psychotherapist #MH20051 experienced with varied populations; children and families with specialty in parenting, adults, and couples. Education: Graduated with a Masters in Counseling from, Cornerstone University in Michigan. and B.A. in Psychology from Florida International University. My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

My chosen form of psychotherapy is to integrate techniques derived from cognitive therapy and behavior therapy. This treatment is aimed at identifying and modifying the client's maladaptive thought processes and problematic behaviors through cognitive restructuring and behavioral techniques to achieve change

Person-centered (Rogerian)

I believe it is essential to use this form of psychotherapy as the groundwork which aids in client’s self discovery and actualization where the client resolves conflicts, recognizes values and approaches to life, and learns how to interpret their thoughts and feelings, consequently changing behavior.

Faith based therapy

As a Biblical counselor, I have the unique advantage of approaching issues holistically based on three dimensions—body, mind and spirit. This form of therapy strives not only to help the individual overcome their mental health challenges, but also to help them heal spiritually. Client’s will feel empowered to strengthen their relationship and communication with God, while addressing their challenges through a biblical lens.

Daialectical Behavior (DBT)

This approach involves a flexible, stage-based therapy that combines principles of behavior and cognitive therapy, and mindfulness. Its underlying emphasis is on helping individuals learn both to regulate and to tolerate their emotions and accept the reality of their lives and own behaviors.

Prolonged Exposure Therapy

Prolonged Exposure Therapy (PE) This is a specific type of CBT that primarily applies behavioral therapy techniques. In PE, individuals are gradually exposed to their trauma-related memories, emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations. Since avoidance is a common symptom of trauma, PE helps people stop avoiding their trauma reminders. The types of exposures may include: a. Imaginal exposures: Recounting the details of the traumatic event. b. In vivo exposures: Repeatedly confronting trauma-related situations or people in their everyday life that they have been avoiding. c. Interoceptive exposures: Creating and then experiencing feared physical sensations that are associated with the trauma but are actually harmless.
