I listen and try to understand your situation and learn what it's like to be you. I can offer suggestions but I won't tell you what to do. I believe that my clients know what they need to do to help them heal, it might not be clear right away but after I am able to understand your problems we can work together to find solutions. It's a big step to seek counseling and to go into therapy. I respect everyone who wants to improve their mental health and well being. It isn't easy to seek help and allow oneself to be vulnerable and share ones' experience. I have listened to thousands of people and I am delighted hear everyone's story to see how I can help.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

My clients come to me for treatment of anxiety or depression. Sometimes the causes for this are deeper, perhaps childhood or recent trauma. Occasionally I find that my clients are dealing with a relationship or a life event that is quite difficult to face alone. I am here to be your sounding board and help brainstorm other ways to deal with your situation. It often helps to talk to someone. Out first session together will be for me to get to know you better. I will be asking questions about you, your life, and what's going on with you. The questions I ask help me to understand you better and give us a foundation on where to start. Typically we establish what you want to do in therapy and how I can help.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I have over 20 years experience in the counseling field. I have spent some time abroad living in Salzburg, London, and Abu Dhabi. I have been a financial advisor/life planner and have worked in the educational system as a adjunct professor and day treatment counselor. I have held other jobs as well, giving me a vast experience useful in connecting with people in many different careers.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

My ideal client is someone who is ready to work on self improvement whether it is dealing with past trauma, or with current relationships. I specialize in depression and anxiety. These are the most common afflictions in mental health but they are connected to many other issues going on in our mental health. I am also familiar with ADHD, trauma, bipolar disorder, and other disorders. I find that everyone is different and we have to find what works for you. I encourage all my clients to practice meditation and write in a journal. I like to brainstorm with my clients even if some of the things we think of might seem ridiculous.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is the examination of how your thoughts influence your attitude and emotions. Many times people will have their own internal dialogue which influences how they look at things. When people take action based on their assumptions based on their beliefs they can set themselves up for disappointment. Looking at the ten most common thought distortions will help reduce the drama and reduce the severe emotional responses that these distortions cause.

Person-centered (Rogerian)

When someone comes into therapy it is often a venue to learn about one's self and how to improve one's understanding of how one relates to the world around them. When I work with a client I want to help them realize their goals and learn how to cope better with life's challenges. To make it short, "It's all about you and what you want" I am here to listen to you and support you in making decisions that will help you reach your goals.
