My bachelors degree is from Loyola University Chicago and my masters degree is from Chicago State University. I reside in the Chicagoland area. What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

During our first session together we will start with brief introduction. I will ask you a lot of questions about yourself, why you are seeking treatment, how you cope, and your symptoms (it's basically an interview). We will also chat about goals for therapy, expectations, and more. I will answer any and all questions you may have.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

As a therapist, I believe my greatest strengths are empathy and being understanding. I am warm, kind, and attentive. Unconditional positive regard, is high on my list of priorities, when interacting with you. I seek to rid stigmas and to do away with labels. We are greater, together! Easy dialogue, cognitive behavior therapy and talk therapy are typically my approaches. I seek to make therapy easy. I walk alongside you during your journey and equip you with the tools and resources you need to empower yourself. I create a safe space and we work as a team to overcome any challenges and uncertainties you may have. You have taken the first step. I look forward to working with you!

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

CBT interventions provide a simple way of understanding challenging situations and problematic reactions to them. Cognitive behavioral therapy emphasizes three main components implicated in psychological problems: thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. I work in collaboration with you to identify irrational thoughts patterns and change from maladaptive to adaptive thinking and functioning.

Trauma-Focused CBT

Trauma has affected us all in some way. Rather than looking at why a person acts the way they do, I like to ask the question "What happened to you." Working in collaboration with you we will look at core beliefs and values, as well as the negative effects of trauma, including processing their traumatic memories, overcoming problematic thoughts and behaviors, and developing effective coping and interpersonal skills.

I like to look at how our first and early interactions have made us who we are today. We are connected in many ways, understanding the different attachment styles will help you form better relationships with others and yourself. Attachment based therapy targets thoughts, feelings, communications, behaviors, and interpersonal exchanges that you have learned either to suppress and avoid or to amplify and overemphasize because of early attachment experiences.

I love identifying and helping others figure out their strengths. Learning about your strengths brings a better sense of fulfillment and forward progress. We are all good at something and focusing on strengths can lead to greater overall improvement.

Couples Counseling

I enjoy working with couples and teaching them how to become better communicators. I love helping couples build understanding and empathy in their relationship, and assist with getting the relationship back on track.
