I am a licensed professional counselor. I’ve been in practice for 45 years. During that time I have been fortunate to work in all areas of the mental health field. I work with all age groups and over the years have been able to develop a counseling style that meets individual needs. In terms of approach, the feedback I get from clients is that I can be very matter-of-fact in a good way

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

I primarily like to work with a clean slate So the first session usually involves talking about what’s going on with the client and in doing so listen and address issues and concerns At this point if a diagnosis is made and medication is required, then the client is referred to either their family doctor or a local psychiatrist If client is wanting to return for future counseling, a treatment plan will be developed at that time

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Because I have been counseling for many years what used to take 10 or 15 sessions now takes five or six This short term counseling approach has proven very effective The only exception would be Trauma therapy which would take much longer and involve more extensive counseling

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

Cognitive behavior health can also help manage non-psychological health conditions, such as insomnia and chronic pain.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

Mindfulness therapy is a type of conversation based intervention or talk therapy. The goal is to help people avoid their negative automatic thoughts. These thoughts create emotions, such as unworthiness, guilt, anger, and sadness. Mindfulness is about being present in the moment and being more aware, while calmly accepting and acknowledging a person‘s feelings, thoughts, and sensations. Mindfulness therapy helps people achieve a balanced mental state without being judgmental. Mindfulness therapy is used for the management of anxiety, bipolar disorder, depression, associated with medical illness, low mood, unhappiness, depression, relapse prevention, and treatment resistant depression.
