Hello and thank you for visiting my page. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Pennsylvania and Delaware and I am looking forward to working with you and getting to know you and hearing about what your concerns are and discussing the possibilities of us working together. Initially I will be working with individuals on the virtual platform exclusively and I hope with time I will once more have a physical office in PA where I can once again meet in person. I have worked with people of multi age groups from parents with babies through people into their aging years with a focus in children , adolescents and families. I have worked in a multitude of settings both public and private and now mostly work out of my outpatient office in Newark, Delaware. Please contact me so we can get to know each other. My specialties are broad but I focus mainly on areas related to anxiety, attachment, trauma, mood disorders, relationships and family systems. I am a play therapist, a hypnotherapist and I use a variety of modalities in my work too many to mention. Most importantly is the needs and intentions of the person who is approaching me for counseling. Therapy is a collaboration- and it is client centered. In other words- you decide what you want to have happen, I am here to assist. If this seems like a comfortable way for you to get started off please contact me and we can talk . I look forward to getting to know you.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

When you schedule a session with I will be sure to go over and questions you might have . I review the initial questions and electronic paperwork. I try to learn about you and your expectations.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My strength as a practitioner is my ability to be flexible and open minded with a wide range of people from different backgrounds and age groups. While I am not multilingual I am trained and experienced in dealing with cross cultural differences and will seek out collateral services and supports when needed. Although I have training across a broad range of treatment approaches I am especially adept at applying experiential and systemic approaches such as working with families and communities. I have a strength based orientation as well as a well grounded in cognitive behavioral approaches. I have been committed and focused in my career in mental health for over 30 years and spend time and focused attention getting to know all of the people I work with to ensure that each individual has recieved the benefit of my best effort. I value the feedback and feelings of the people who put their trust in me and value each relationship as well as the potential for healing that each person brings with them to the therapy. I hope you will feel comfortable contacting me and look forward to getting to know you!

My treatment methods

Hypnotherapy

I am trained in heart centered hypnotherapy through the Wellness Institute of Washington.

Child Parent Psychotherapy

I am a registered play therapist and I utilize a variety of modalities in which I have been fortunate to have been educated and trained. I utilize the Family play therapy model as my foundation which is a solid model for allowing integration of different approaches, allowing me to integrate and individualize treatment planning.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-i)

Cognitive behavioral therapy was the philosophical and foundational approach of my education in graduate education CBT is in actuality a fluid model that allows for an overall holistic approach that incorporates mindfulness, biofeedback, behavioral goals and training and experiential therapies to name a few. It allows for a mind body approach as well as the inclusion of other significant and relevant angles including ecosystemic therapy, and cultural sensitivity.

Attachment-based

Attachment therapy is significantly applicable to therapy in addressing dynamics both internally and interactively. I utilize attachment therapy both to inform my practice approach on an individualized level as well as in the application of specific strategies when indicated.

Culturally Sensitive Therapy

As a social worker and therapist I have been interested in cross cultural understanding and communication for decades. I studied and worked in Arizona in the 1990s working with First Nations people both in the urban areas as well as on the nearby Pima/Maricopa reservation. These experiences as well as my own experiences growing up in the traditional Jewish communities of the mid Atlantic and northeast, as well as my willingness and ability to work in communities in which I am not the majority have contributed to my abilities to understand and support people of other cultures, religions, ethnicities, ages, lifestyles and gender and sexual orientations. I have a deep appreciation and respect for the value and diversity that exists and believe that all people are unique and equal and that we have similarities, but that we are not the same .
