Hello, I'm Niki. Are you feeling overwhelmed? Are you struggling yourself, or maybe your child is concerning you? Let's talk, and we can work together to find solutions. I help others to find patterns in their lives that are keeping them stuck, and find ways to become unstuck. We'll find what is working and build on your strengths. We'll also find what isn't working, and develop a plan that's right for you. I'll teach you ways to calm your body and your brain, slow down thoughts to bring clarity, and develop better ways to act or respond to the stresses around you. For children, I incorporate play therapy techniques to help them gain and practice skills.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session together after the intake, we will process any information you would like to process that could not be completed during the intake and allow time for any questions you may have. I will explain the therapeutic techniques that will be most beneficial for your situation while also processing with you what has worked for you and what has not. We will develop a rough plan for moving forward. If we have time, and it is appropriate, I will teach you a coping strategy you can begin using immediately.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I like to listen and am curious by nature. This is what led me to pursue therapy as a career, and I enjoy the work immensely. I connect well with people, and my clients tend to stay with me because they feel heard and they walk away with concrete ways to make changes in their lives.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I have been utilizing CBT for over 20 years to help children, teens, and adults identify unhelpful thought and behavioral patterns, challenge them, and help to identify more helpful ways to think and cope. While we cannot always change the situation, and definitely not another person, we can influence and we can manage our own actions and reactions.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

I use a variety of mindfulness-based techniques, including guided imagery, progressive relaxation, and meditation, to help clients develop skills to connect the mind and the body, calm stress, and allowing for moments of peace.

Play Therapy

I use play therapy techniques with children, teens and some adults to help with communication of thoughts and feelings, create trust, and learn coping strategies more easily.
