Helping adolescents cope since 1999. As a school counselor for more than twenty years in and around the greater Boston area, I have come to appreciate today's complex social-emotional needs of teens, and emerging young adults. I have supported the mental health of hundreds if not thousands of youth over the years through approachable solution-focused counseling sessions. My process is casual, relatable, yet goal-oriented in order to connect with today's youth and coach them through the challenges they face. In addition to my private practice, I currently serve as the Mental Health Coordinator for a public school district, a substance use diversion instructor, a Middle School School Adjustment Counselor, and the co-founder of a College Success Summer Program. In my personal life, I enjoy obsessing over sneakers I am not cool enough to wear, watching my sons play soccer, fishing, sailing my renovated sailboat around the Upper Mystic, and enjoying the Boston Celtics recent winning of banner number eighteen.
One thing I have learned is that people don't take advice from people they don't trust, so in our first few sessions we will get to know each other in order to begin a trusted relationship. From there we will discuss what challenges you are facing and begin to understand what is, and what isn't working. Lastly we will explore different strategies and techniques to get you closer to where you want to be.
My experience ranges from teens up to young adults transitioning into college. My practice focuses exclusively on adolescents in late middle, high school, or college. I have worked with clients around stress management, anxiety, depression, family conflict, divorce, substance use, and social challenges.
I work well with late middle, high school, and college aged youth approximately aged 14 to 24 who are looking for a casual and relatable approach to counseling.
I work with clients to identify thinking traps they are falling into and how to correct them.
