Welcome! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I know life can be exhausting at times, and I find it to be invaluable to have a space to openly process our challenges and stressors. I have worked with individuals from various backgrounds and experiences including people moving through trauma, grief and loss, depression, and anxiety. My practice focuses on supporting individuals experiencing symptoms of anxiety and depression by providing a safe space to explore healthy ways to manage these symptoms and utilize the strengths and resources you have available to promote a better quality of life.
In our first session, we will take the time to explore your history/background and what brings you to therapy at this time. We will focus on getting to know each other better to see if we will be a good fit. I want to make sure you feel comfortable with me and that we are on the same page as I support you in working towards achieving your goals and bettering your life.
I feel that as a provider, I am able to meet you where you are at and remain open to different perspectives and feedback. We are all just human beings that are trying to enjoy life and move forward from our struggles, and I find it is so important to have a safe, comfortable place where you feel seen, heard, and understood. I like to take things at your pace while also providing support to push you towards your goals.
I am committed to working with adults, ages 18-65, who have been having challenges overcoming issues related to anxiety and depression. I also enjoy working with individuals who are experiencing challenges with grief and loss, as this is something we all have/will encounter in our lives and may need additional support processing and moving through these major life moments. The clients I meet with are eager to take the next steps to living in alignment with their values and goals but do not feel they have the confidence or tools to do so quite yet.
I have utilized a CBT approach for 5 years with clients to help collaboratively identify how past experiences have shaped beliefs about the self and others and then explore how this can influence one's current thoughts, emotions, and actions. As we work through this model, we can identify helpful ways to catch some of those not so helpful thoughts and practice challenging them to be more helpful and positive.
Through this model, we will be able to identify where you are at in the process of change and determine the risks/benefits of your current way of doing things and see how making changes could be helpful for your well-being.
Everybody has, or will, encounter some event that has been traumatic and had an impact on their life. I think it's so important to consider how trauma can impact us and take this into consideration when we are working together to find helpful ways to navigate struggles and recognize our resiliency and strengths. I have experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness and long histories of all types of abuse, medical trauma, and chronic trauma/PTSD.
In addition to the traumatic experiences we encounter, we have all, or will at some point, experience some type of loss in life. I utilize methods from grief therapy to help you process and cope with your loss and move through the stages of grief that are ongoing. I am certified in Grief Counseling and have worked with individuals of various backgrounds and age groups experiencing issues related to grief and loss.
As a core piece of the foundations of talk therapy, I find talking through our past and developing a better understanding of how our unconscious thoughts that are shaped by our experiences can impact our current behaviors. Our upbringings have a significant impact on who we are as individuals, and this therapeutic approach helps us to learn how to better navigate our past to make positive changes.
