Hello. I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist practicing in California for 30 years. I like working with individuals who are experiencing a life altering situation such as serious loss or other traumatic event. I also like to help people with situations that create anxiety and stress and feelings of being stuck in a dilemma they feel they cannot solve.
In our first session we will have introductions and time will be provided for you to ask any questions you may have. Then you may describe to me what problems you are currently grappling with and we will create a solid plan of action to deal with these issues as well as any other related concerns that you feel may be challenging you and getting in the way right now.
I have over 30 years of practice helping people who are experiencing anxiety, grief and loss as well as those who have had difficult traumatic events. I have led groups of people who have suffered serious life losses and felt that their issues were irresolvable. I think I am relatable, compassionate and kind.
I appreciate the opportunity of working with clients who feel overwhelmed by grief and loss or are experiencing serious life trauma and/or transition and have found it difficult to figure out how to respond to these deeply troubling feelings successfully. Anxiety is growing in our culture now and can be a run away feeling that can easily lead to burnout, depression or feelings of despair. I have had success in connecting with clients to find ways to unravel these issues.
I believe CBT is one of the most effective means to help clients with challenging feelings and thoughts getting in the way of day to day functioning for individuals I have helped. While mixed with empathic listening and solution focused methods, I have seen fast and positive results. This is an excellent model for learning to lower anxiety.
Using unconditional positive regard and accurate empathic listening as well as providing an accepting space we will address relationship problems, stress management and anxiety issues as well as trauma recovery. By acknowledging and uncovering your own natural resilience we will manage current difficulties. I will work to establish a caring and trusting relationship with you that will provide a positive groundwork for the exploration of your thoughts and feelings as well as lowering anxiety and stress.
