Hi, I am Shanera Brown-Brooks, a skilled Licensed Professional Counselor and Certified Clinical Trauma Professional in the state of Georgia. As a licensed therapist, I specialize in helping individuals and couples navigate attachment wounds, heal from trauma, and cultivate a deeper sense of self. Whether you're struggling with relationship patterns, childhood experiences, or seeking personal growth, I offer a supportive space to explore and transform the barriers that hold you back. My approach is integrative, compassionate, and tailored to your unique journey toward healing and self-discovery.
During the first session, clients can expect to discuss their goals for therapy, explore their current challenges and emotions, and begin to establish a strong therapeutic relationship based on trust and understanding. Additionally, I will work collaboratively with clients to create a personalized treatment plan that addresses their unique needs and helps them achieve their desired outcomes.
One of my strongest skills is creating a welcoming, safe space for clients to process their emotions and get past barriers that are holding them back. Assisting my clients in overcoming stressors from their current and past circumstances is my main goal. With a strong foundation in trauma-informed care, I employ evidence-based techniques to assist my clients in embracing new perspectives and coping strategies for life's obstacles. I'm skilled at recognizing my clients' potential and instilling in them the self-assurance to make positive changes in their lives.
My passion is helping individuals heal from trauma, understand their attachment patterns, and develop a stronger, more authentic sense of self. Together, we’ll explore the deeper roots of your emotional experiences, uncover what’s been holding you back, and work toward building more fulfilling relationships—with others and with yourself.
In my practice, I prioritize the client's perspective, feelings, and autonomy in order to ensure that their needs and desires are at the forefront of our interactions. Through active listening, unconditional positive regard, and empathetic understanding, clients often experience a deep sense of validation and acceptance, which can facilitate personal growth and self-discovery
My approach to CBT is collaborative and client-centered. I work closely with clients to develop personalized treatment plans that align with their unique needs and goals. By fostering a safe and supportive therapeutic environment, I empower clients to explore their thoughts and behaviors, develop healthier coping strategies, and build resilience.
In my practice, I utilize humanistic therapy to support clients in their journey toward growth and healing by emphasizing their inherent potential and self-worth. By creating a non-judgmental, empathetic, and supportive environment, I help clients explore and understand their true selves, fostering self-awareness and self-acceptance.
In my practice, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) is a central approach I use to facilitate growth and healing for individuals and couples. EFT focuses on exploring and understanding emotions as a key to improving interpersonal relationships and individual well-being. For individuals, I help clients identify and process their core emotional experiences, which often involves uncovering unmet needs and addressing underlying issues that affect their self-esteem and personal growth.
Instead of viewing behaviors and symptoms in isolation, I look at the broader context of clients' experiences. This perspective helps in identifying the underlying trauma and addressing it through targeted interventions.

I began services in August 2024; with a great directive of self reflection and introspective work, Shanera discharged me in December 2024. I had identified my areas of focus and set micro-goals leading to a pattern of success. My mother died in May 2025. I was able to schedule an appointment rather quickly and began addressing the process of grief. I am looking forward to working with Shanera in this process.

She was very attentive to my concerns and asked amazing questions which caused me to truly reflect on the reasons for coming to therapy.
