Hi, I am Emily Like Schuleman. I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor in Minnesota and a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Florida. I currently reside in Minnesota with my husband and our young son. I enjoy working with adults in individual psychotherapy. I utilize several different treatment theories and modalities in sessions. I identify myself as a person-centered therapist and utilize techniques from Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Family Systems Theory. I have specialization training in EMDR, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Prolonged Exposure Therapy. I also serve as a group leader for an Adult DBT Group. I am currently interested in postpartum treatment and working on a certification in this area. I earned my master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Freed-Hardeman University out of Henderson, TN. I grew up in a small Tennessee town and have lived in several different states. I enjoy quilting and hanging out with her family in her spare time.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session together, we'll start with brief introductions, then dive into the specific challenges you're facing. This will help me create a tailored plan for us to work through in follow-up sessions.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Having worked in the field since 2015, I've developed a skill set that can help you improve your symptoms. I utilize a lot of relationship building in treatment in order to really get down to the core of where the symptoms stem from.

My treatment methods

Attachment-based

Therapy is about building relationships. I utilize an attachment based approach to build rapport with clients and help them understand their attachment styles.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I utilize thought work to help many different symptoms. Changing your thought process can have an impact on your behaviors and feelings.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

I have over 40 hours of DBT training and currently work in a full DBT program. DBT is a strategy that can be used with many different clients and has an excellent set of skills to improve life functioning.

EMDR

I have been EMDR trained since 2022. EMDR is an excellent strategy for working through traumas.
