Hello, my name is Kimura (Key-mu-ra), a Southern Californian native and Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). I have had the distinct pleasure of providing client-centered care to individuals in Long Beach, Los Angeles, and surrounding cities and in partnership (case management, care coordination) with Veterans, Caregivers, Geriatric populations, Youth aging out of foster care, and individuals who were homeless. My foundation and blueprint are my faith, worship, and prayer; I provide Christian Counseling, and utilize CBT, Solution Focused, Strength Based, and Positive Psychology methods to support Clients in their personal journey to self-actualization, acceptance, and empowerment.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Our first session would center around getting to know you better; discuss any recent changes in your life, and the impact of these changes. This will provide me with a better understanding of why you have reached out for support. We will complete our first session with developing a goal, and discuss any questions/concerns you may have.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I desire to expose, unearth, and empower a client to understand they have choices, they are the drivers of their destination, and they can obtain a sense of peace and/or acceptance in their life. You are the gatekeeper, you can decide what you want to let in and what you would like to keep out. I'm here to remind you of that.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I enjoy working with Clients 18 and up who have endeavors to break through the molds of anxiety, self-worth insecurities, the why me’s, the I cant’s, I’m not going to make it. Because after the rain the sun will shine. Oh how beautiful the day is after it rains. The air smells fresher, and the ground yields beautiful flowers; and that rain is a distant memory because it came and left beauty for ashes.

My treatment methods

Christian Counseling

I have been ordained as an Evangelist for over 15 years. I believe that faith, prayer, praise, and worship provide a catalyst for eliminating anxiety, depression, and relational challenges. The more you are willing to yield the more available your healing will come. In practice we would identify your challenges, reference the Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth Text, and create a road map to reaching your destiny.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

There may be times in which your thoughts do not align with your feelings, this may cause positional indecision, worry, and whole life imbalance. With CBT we would identify the source of your concern(s) and hold them to the measure of truth. This will allow us to create a path to wellness as you operate in the knowledge of who you are, and that you are more than enough.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

You may already know what your challenges are and how they came to be. But you may just need a little help in navigating out to a place of balance and peace. Solution Focused Brief Therapy focuses on the strengths and coping skills you may not realize you already possess. We would unearth your toolkit of personal resources, check for effectiveness, motivation, and durability. We will make the necessary adjustments for you to resume your life's balance in order for you to meet your goals.

Strength-Based

I truly believe that each individual has within them the tools necessary to heal and overcome life's curve balls. My approach is to focus on your strengths, accomplishments and the positive attributes you either possess or just need to fine tune. I will challenge you to unearth the "I can", develop positive self-attributes, and see that resilient warrior you are. If you can see it, you can be it.

Supportive

Supportive Therapy is multi-faceted; it's listening, confronting those things under the rug, behind the curtain, it's reframing, it's perspective shifting, it's building your hope, and developing long last coping skills. With Supportive Therapy I take clients on a path of cognitive restructuring with the 3 C's catch it, check it, and change it. Your stuck points/triggers have a name, and they have absorbed enough of your time and energy. It's time to serve them their eviction notice and take back your power, sharpen your strengths, and build a refreshed you.
