I’m Ulma Romero Garcia, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) practicing in California and I have a passion to help others find the spark that they’ve always had inside and heal. I’m glad that you’re here today and making sure that you take care of yourself and your mental health. I work with children, adolescents, adults/older adults and specialize on many different issues. I utilize different types of modalities such as Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Problem-Solving Therapy (PST), Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT) and so much more. Looking forward to working together!
In our first session, we will have brief introductions and I will be gathering information related to your current symptoms and/or struggles, your interests, your strengths, your relationships and expectations/goals. Gathering this information will assist me to develop a treatment plan in order to best support you.
I believe that my greatest attributes are being non-judgmental, a good listener, compassionate and being able to provide a safe space for you. I know what it's like to be on the other side as a client and I know how important it is to have a therapist that truly cares.
I love what I do and I'd like to meet you where you are in your journey. No matter who you are and where you are in your journey, my goal is to help you get to a place where you have the tools to thrive.
Ulma Romero Garcia offers therapy covered by Central California Alliance for Health (Medi-Cal), Gold Coast Health Plan (Medi-Cal), L.A. Care Health Plan (Medi-Cal), Orange County Mental Health Plan (Medi-Cal), Partnership HealthPlan of California (Medi-Cal) and San Francisco Health Plan (Medi-Cal) in California.
A huge part of my practice is guided by a psychodynamic framework. By understanding your early lived experiences and digging deeper, you can understand how it affects your current functioning.
Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is a treatment method that involves eye movements while you process traumatic memories. My goal is to help you heal from traumas or other distressing life experiences.
I utilize cognitive-behavioral therapy to help you understand the connections between thoughts, feelings and behavior. The goal is to help you understand how this influences your mental health and to provide you with the tools to help you continue to improve it.
I utilize Trauma-Focused CBT for children and adolescents ages 3-18 who have experienced traumas and would like to focus on processing these events.
I'm a huge believer of seeing people through a trauma informed care lens. As your therapist, I want you to know that you are safe, seen and heard. I want you to know that you are stronger than you know and that your story truly matters.
