Welcome to H-Town Counseling Services! I’m thrilled to introduce myself as the founder, bringing with me a rich educational journey that includes a BS in Psychology and an MA in Counseling Psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. With over a decade of experience in mental health, I'm passionate about guiding you towards achieving your goals and living your best life. Let’s work together to unlock your potential and create a path to a brighter future.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

As we begin our journey together, you can expect a warm and welcoming environment. We’ll start by gathering important background information about your symptom history, understanding what brings you to therapy, and discussing any previous experiences you may have had with mental health services. This initial conversation will also focus on your goals for therapy, helping us to tailor our approach to meet your unique needs and aspirations. By the end of this session, we aim to have a clear understanding of where you are and where you hope to go, setting the foundation for a collaborative and supportive therapeutic relationship.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I have experience working with all ages of clients from age 6 to seniors 65 and older. I am committed too being empathetic and skilled in active listening, ensuring you feel heard and understood in a non-judgmental and patient environment. I embrace diversity and respect various backgrounds, maintaining ethical integrity and confidentiality in all interactions. I am compassionate and committed to staying informed on the latest mental health research, and dedicated to helping you achieve your goals and improve your well-being.

About Devyn Mitchell

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I have been successful with the CBT treatment method for anxiety, self-esteem, chronic illnesses and depressive related disorders. I also use trauma-focused CBT for trauma related concerns.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

Mindfulness strategies can help individuals with anxiety & depressive disorders and those with symptoms from chronic illnesses by promoting present moment awareness, which reduces rumination and stress. By focusing on the here and now, my client have been able to break the cycle of negative thinking patterns that contribute to anxiety, depression while also improving emotional regulation and resilience. For individuals with chronic illnesses, mindfulness can alleviate physical and emotional suffering by enhancing coping mechanisms and overall quality of life.
