Specializing in various mood disorders, trauma, and addiction, I have more than a decade of experience working with individuals from 3 years to 73 years of age. I have worked in various settings from colleges to community mental health, private practice, and inpatient rehabilitation facilities. I currently hold a dual Masters in Clinical Mental Health and Rehabilitation Counseling from Ohio University and am completing a doctoral degree in Counselor Education and Supervision, all achieved while being a single mother of four children. I am living proof that recovery, overcoming, and finding the right people can take you from brokenness to wholeness! As a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor with a supervisory endorsement and Licensed Independent Chemical Dependency Counselor in the state of Ohio, I have been actively working in my community since 2014. I currently work as a clinical director and supervisor training current and future counselors in becoming compassionate and effective helping professionals. I look forward to working with you!
During our first session, you can expect to be introduced to the process of therapy and gie an opportunity to get to know me and how I approach treatment. We will establish a brief history and snapshot of where you have been, where you are, and where you'd like to be. If you have previous experience with therapy, we will discuss what has and hasn't worked for you in the past. The first session will serve as the beginning of what will hopefully become a fulfilling and productive therapeutic relationship!
I am an excellent communicator & listener with a heart for the people I serve. I believe completely in a person's ability to have a voice in their therapy with a therapist that fully embraces and believes in a person's capacity for change! I have vast experience with mood disorders, substance use, navigating stress, eating disorders, trauma, relationships, and family concerns.
I am open to most clients aged 12-99 years. It is often helpful for clients to have buy in and/or motivation for therapy. It may be most helpful to detail what clients may not be best suited for telehealth services. If a client is in a severe state of psychosis or lethal self-harm, in person therapy that is able to provide more intense accountability and services may be best for them. Otherwise, I am open to conversations about whether we can be a good fit therapeutically!
While I could select several treatment methods I utilize in the course of my practice, this one serves as a foundational approach. I treat each person in front of me as a unique individual with unique experiences and needs. Various treatment approaches can be used in the duration of therapy, however, it begins with understanding the client in front of me and their view of the world. From there, we collaboratively identify needs, goals, and approaches.
