Hi there ! My name is Jeanine Espejo and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. Im a mother of two and a first generation Peruvian-American. I would be considered a "millennial" ! I have worked in the mental health field for over 10 years and have been Licensed for over two years. I love building trust and connections with people who need to feel heard and seen.
In our first session we will do brief introductions, discuss what bring you to seek support from me, and review the intake forms and then discuss how going forward we will approach working together , and also how often we feel will be good to meet.
life transitions, anxiety, parenting issues/stress, generational trauma, 1st generation, immigrant adult children
I enjoy working with new parents, young adults, college students and first generation/children of immigrants. I enjoy exploring childhood experiences, how systems affect our well being and even our self concepts. I am very open to discussing topical events and the effects it may have on oneself. I really enjoy connecting with other first generation adult children on the experiences of being first gen!
This approach focuses on your individual strengths rather than just your problems or deficits. It's about identifying what's right with you, not just what's wrong. I see therapy as a collaborative journey, where we work together to identify your unique strengths, develop positive perspectives and create strategies for resilience.
My approach through Motivational Interviewing involves building a trusting relationship where you can talk openly. Together, we identify and clarify your specific goals and the direction of change that you wish to pursue. We explore your own motivations for change. Rather than telling you what to do, I will listen and help draw out your own thoughts about the need, desire, and ability to change. Collaboratively, we develop a concrete plan of action that aligns with your values and ensures you're comfortable and confident moving forward.
